KCCITM B.Tech IoT FAQs
Ques. I have completed a 3-year Diploma in Computer Science. Am I eligible for B.Tech Lateral Entry in IoT at KCCITM?
Ans. Yes, you are eligible. KCCITM accepts candidates who have passed a 3-year Diploma in ANY branch of Engineering and Technology (recognised by BTEUP or equivalent) with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST). Your Diploma in Computer Science qualifies you for lateral entry into the 2nd year of B.Tech (IoT). You will need to appear for CUET UG 2026 and register for UPTAC counselling.
Ques. What is the difference between B.Tech IoT (regular 4-year) and B.Tech Lateral Entry IoT (3-year) at KCCITM?
Ans. The regular B.Tech IoT is a 4-year programme for students who have passed Class 12 with PCM. The Lateral Entry programme is a 3-year programme for diploma holders and B.Sc. graduates who directly join the 2nd year, skipping the 1st year. Both programmes lead to the same B.Tech degree from AKTU and have the same fee per semester (Rs. 60,000), but the lateral entry programme costs less overall (Rs. 3,60,000 vs Rs. 4,80,000 for the regular programme).
Ques. Is CUET UG mandatory for B.Tech Lateral Entry admission at KCCITM through UPTAC?
Ans. CUET UG is the primary exam for UPTAC lateral entry counselling in regular rounds. However, in the Special Round of UPTAC counselling, candidates can also be considered directly on the basis of their Diploma in Engineering marks, B.Sc. degree, or D.Voc. qualification, without a CUET UG score. So if you missed CUET UG, you may still get a chance through the special round.
Ques. Does KCCITM offer hostel facilities for lateral entry students? Is it mandatory?
Ans. Yes, KCCITM has on-campus hostel facilities for both male and female students. Hostel accommodation is completely optional and not mandatory. Fees range from Rs. 90,000 per annum (dormitory/triple occupancy with cooler) to Rs. 1,65,000 per annum (single occupancy AC room), inclusive of meals (4 times daily), laundry, Wi-Fi, and gym. Seats are allotted on a first-come, first-served basis, and availability may be limited as the student count is growing.
Ques. What kind of jobs can I get after completing B.Tech Lateral Entry in IoT from KCCITM?
Ans. Graduates of B.Tech IoT from KCCITM can pursue roles such as IoT Solutions Developer, Embedded Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, Smart Systems Analyst, Automation Engineer, and Cloud IoT Architect. The institute has a strong placement cell with 250+ companies visiting annually, including TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Cognizant, Capgemini, and Accenture. The highest national package offered is Rs. 14.2 LPA. IoT professionals are in high demand across sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, smart cities, agriculture, and logistics.
Ques. Can I apply for management quota seats at KCCITM for B.Tech Lateral Entry IoT without UPTAC counselling?
Ans. Yes, 15% of seats at KCCITM are filled through the management quota directly by the institute. For management quota admission, you can apply directly at admissions.kccitm.edu.in, submit your Diploma/B.Sc. marksheets, and attend institute-level counselling.
