Ques. Is Mathematics mandatory for MCA admission at EWIT? What if I did not have Maths in my graduation?
Ans. Yes, Mathematics is a compulsory subject for MCA eligibility. Candidates must have studied Mathematics either at the 10+2 level or as a subject in their graduation. If you did not have Maths in your graduation, you must have had it at the 10+2 (PUC) level. Candidates without Mathematics background are not eligible for MCA admission under VTU/PGCET norms.
Ques. What is the PGCET cutoff rank for MCA at EWIT?
Ans. Based on 2025 Karnataka PGCET data, the cutoff rank for MCA at EWIT was approximately 7,783 for the 3AG (General) category in Round 1, and 5,497 for the GM category. The 1G category cutoff was approximately 9,854. These ranks indicate moderate competition, making EWIT accessible to a wide range of PGCET applicants.
Ques. What programming languages and technologies are taught in MCA at EWIT (VTU)?
Ans. The VTU MCA curriculum covers Java, Python, C, C++, Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Management Systems (SQL, PL/SQL), Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Software Engineering, Web Technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP), and electives in emerging areas such as Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, and Mobile Application Development.

Ques. Can I pursue MCA at EWIT after completing a B.Sc. (Computer Science) or BCA degree?
Ans. Yes. B.Sc. (Computer Science), BCA, B.Sc. (IT), and any other graduation with Mathematics are eligible for MCA admission. B.Sc. (CS) and BCA graduates are particularly well-suited as their background directly aligns with the MCA curriculum, and they often perform well in PGCET.
Ques. What is the difference between MCA from EWIT (VTU) and an M.Tech (CSE) in terms of career prospects?
Ans. MCA and M.Tech (CSE) both lead to careers in the IT industry, but they differ in focus. MCA is application-oriented, covering software development, databases, and IT management, while M.Tech (CSE) is more research and engineering-oriented.
