AVCOE M.Tech FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between the new M.Tech Computer Engineering (2026 pattern) and the earlier ME Computer Engineering at AVCOE?
Ans. The M.Tech Computer Engineering (2026 pattern) is offered under AVCOE's newly granted Autonomous Institute status from 2026-27, allowing the college to design its own curriculum. The earlier ME Computer Engineering followed the SPPU-prescribed curriculum. The M.Tech programme has a revised intake of 6 seats (compared to 18 for ME), and the curriculum is updated to include the latest industry-relevant topics. The admission process through GATE and Maharashtra CAP remains the same.
Ques. What industry collaborations does the AVCOE Computer Engineering department have for M.Tech students?
Ans. The department has tie-ups with ESDS Software Pvt. Ltd. (Cloud Computing Centre of Excellence), NVIDIA GPU Teaching Centre (for parallel computing and IoT), Sumago, NetLeap, Cognifront, and Manasvi for internships. The Red Hat Academy and NPTEL Local Chapter provide additional learning resources. M.Tech students benefit from these collaborations through access to advanced infrastructure, industry-guided projects, and internship opportunities.
Ques. Does AVCOE Computer Engineering department have a PhD research centre?
Ans. Yes, the PhD Computer Engineering programme was approved by SPPU from the academic year 2026-27. M.Tech graduates from AVCOE can apply for PhD admission at AVCOE or other SPPU-affiliated institutions. The department has active research in Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Network Security, and Big Data, with multiple faculty members holding PhDs and publishing in international journals and conferences.
Ques. What are the career opportunities after M.Tech Computer Engineering from AVCOE?
Ans. M.Tech Computer Engineering graduates can pursue senior software engineering roles, research positions, faculty positions in engineering colleges, or PhD programmes. The advanced curriculum in Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, Data Mining, and Network Security prepares students for specialised technical roles. Many M.Tech graduates also appear for GATE again for PhD admissions at IITs/NITs or apply for research positions in organisations like CDAC, DRDO, and ISRO.
Ques. What is the GATE stipend and who is eligible for it at AVCOE?
Ans. GATE-qualified students admitted to M.Tech programmes through the CAP process are eligible for a monthly stipend of Rs. 12,400 from MHRD/AICTE. This stipend is available for the duration of the M.Tech programme (2 years), subject to satisfactory academic performance and government norms. Students should confirm eligibility and disbursement procedures with the AVCOE accounts/administration office at the time of admission.
Ques. What is the intake for M.Tech Computer Engineering at AVCOE and how competitive is admission?
Ans. The M.Tech Computer Engineering programme at AVCOE has an intake of 6 students under the 2026 autonomous pattern. Admission is based on GATE (CS) score merit through the Maharashtra CAP process. Given the very small intake, students with higher GATE scores have a significantly better chance of securing admission. Students should also consider applying to multiple colleges during the CAP option form filling process to maximise their chances.
