Course syllabi are always updated and relevant to the class and professors do a great job of teaching. Lots of research experience in my major is provided in years 2 and 4
This university had the program I was interested in and was the most reputable university close to where I lived. I did not want to move too far.
The course curriculum is generally very well structured and I feel like I learn a lot from my professors despite the online classes due to the COVID19 pandemic. My course syllabus is fairly updated and it is relevant to the topics I am interested in learning. I was not given any industrial exposure or research experience.
I chose UBC because it is close to home and has a very high reputation. They are a world-class research facility as well which motivated me to accept their offer. Their campus is filled with a lot of beautiful, natural scenery as well. A lot of my friends from high school also accepted their offers to UBC which made me want to join them.
Course curriculum lets students explore many different fields of computer science. One can major in software development, machine learning, cybersecurity, and even artificial intelligence. Research culture is the main reason why students at UBC excel. They can choose the topic of research and the research paper is published by the university and it helps a lot of students get placed after completing their degrees. Practical exposure is provided through specialization projects for each course.
30,000 CAD per year
There are various opportunities for research and for applying knowledge learned in the classroom.
Depends on how many courses a student takes. It roughly estimated to 3,500$ for a 3 credit course.
The curriculum requires you to take many different requirements and electives that may not be related to your major, e.g communication. I think this is great as it widens your perspective/options and lets you try new courses. However, it may make it less flexible to take the courses that you really wanted to try since your timetable will get overcrowded and you are not allowed to take more than a certain amount of credits per year.
One year tuition is approximately CAD 37000.
Very difficult, unnecessarily so. Drove me to depression and imposter syndrome is real. Taught me some skills to help me get jobs.
8000 CAD
It is hectic and tough but proper time management and organization can help you a lot.
60,000 CAD/year
It is great and most up to date, we frequently have industrial exposure through fairs and seminars.
CAD $49000 (International Students)
The first year of engineering was mostly high school topics and it was pretty easy. Now in the second year, we are going through more complex topics. Industrial exposure and research experience can only be obtained if we explore and try to get it. I am personally in a design team, UBC Baja which gives me a lot of industrial experience.
around $200,000
The syllabi of most courses are up to date. Professors love to talk about new technology especially when it comes to their own research and findings. Talking about their research is a good way to get to know them and for them to get to know you. Any relation with a professor can open doors with research experience as they're more likely to select you to help with their research. The co-op program, although competitive, allows for a good opportunity to work in the industry.
The average is around 45000CAD excluding the rent.
