UBC Applied Science Co-op data shows a median monthly salary of C$ 4,333 (INR 2.88 Lakhs) for Electrical Engineering placements in 2025, making co-op one of the most effective ways to reduce the net cost of the degree.

Ques. What Class 12 percentage do Indian students typically need to be competitive for UBC BASc EE admission?

Ans. UBC does not publish a fixed minimum percentage for international applicants. Competitive Indian applicants typically present approximately 85 to 95 percent aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (approximately CGPA 8.5 to 9.5 on a 10-point scale). Admission is based on ranked academic standing, so a higher PCM score directly improves chances. WES or the university’s credential evaluator determines the official equivalence of Indian marks.

Ques. Can UBC BASc Electrical Engineering graduates work in Canada after completing the degree?

Ans. Yes. Graduates of a 4-year BASc programme at a Designated Learning Institution such as UBC are eligible for a 3-year Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). The PGWP grants open-market work authorisation anywhere in Canada with no employer restriction. One year of skilled work experience on a PGWP qualifies graduates for Canada’s Express Entry Canadian Experience Class pathway to permanent residency.

Ques. When does Electrical Engineering specialisation begin in the UBC BASc programme?

Ans. Electrical Engineering specialisation begins in Year 2. Applicants are admitted into the general BASc (Bachelor of Applied Science) and complete a common first-year engineering curriculum. At the end of first year, students submit a Faculty of Applied Science placement form to select their specialisation; those choosing Electrical Engineering then follow the ECE discipline curriculum from Year 2 onward. Students do not apply directly to Electrical Engineering at the time of initial admission.
