  • In the Department of Biology at McGill University, the faculty research the remarkable and often surprising ways in (or by) which life emerges, changes, grows and dies across a diversity of microbes, plants, and animals, including humans.
  • They offer courses in each of these areas, highlighting the breadth and depth of expertise of our faculty.
  • This degree will help you to understand the past, present, and future of the natural world that surrounds us, and better appreciate our own place within it.
  • The expected duration for completing the M.Sc. degree is 2 years. In some cases, 3 years may be required; students are however cautioned to avoid research projects that cannot be completed in 2 years.
  • M.Sc. students are required to earn additional 6-course credits during their degree.

A four-year bachelor’s degree is typically required to apply for graduate admission at McGill University. However, the university also somtimes accepts applications from students who have completed a three-year bachelor’s degree on a case-by-case basis. However, meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the program, as admission decisions are highly competitive and based on a holistic review of each students’s credentials.
