- BFA in Visual Arts at the University of Victoria is offered as a 4-years program by the Department of Visual Arts.
- The University of Victoria also ranked 2nd in Maclean’s top Canadian Comprehensive Universities 2019.
- This major program emphasizes contemporary art practices, rather than applied or craft training.
- The program is designed to provide intensive studio experience in a critical setting directly related to the pursuit of art in our culture.
- Studying Visual Arts at UVic will allow students to bring their creative thoughts to life. Their graduate program will allow students to expand their studio practice and find their creative edge.
- The BFA program consists of a minimum of 60 units.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
Applicants must hold Twelve years of academic preparation and one of the following:
- Indian School Certificate (CISCE) or All India Senior School Certificate (CBSE) awarded after Standard XII with 75% (conditional offer with 80% on Grade 10 results)
- Year 12 State Board Exams: Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC); applicants with excellent academic results will be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Students must have a GPA of 5.0 on a scale of 9.0.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Higher Secondary School Certificate with reputed institute with min 75%
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

The following required documents are:
- Resume/CV: It is the outline of academic achievements and/or awards, publications, relevant work, and/or volunteer experience.
- Two Letter of Recommendation: Letter of recommendation (combination of professional and academic recommenders) which includes information about the student, their connection with the person they are recommending, their qualification, and the specific skills they have.
- Statement of Purpose: This statement must describe your qualifications and the objectives of your intended educational program.
- Statement of Intent: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
- Official Transcripts: Applicants who have attended and/or received degrees from institutions outside the US must provide certified copies and certified English translations of transcripts or records of all previous post-secondary education and of all degrees conferred.
- ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
