University of Toronto Payment Options for International Students
The University of Toronto follows a centralized payment system for all campuses. The same methods apply to international students, including those from India, and all payments are managed through ACORN.
1. Convera or Flywire (Recommended for payments from India)
These are U of T’s officially approved international payment partners. They support local bank transfers, online payments, and non-Canadian credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay). Payments are secure, trackable, and come with competitive exchange rates and no hidden U of T fees.
2. Credit Card via ACORN
You can pay directly through your ACORN portal using Visa or Mastercard. A convenience fee of about 2.5% usually applies. This option is commonly used for admission deposits and smaller payments.
3. Canadian Bank Account (After Arrival in Canada)
Once you open a Canadian bank account, you can pay through online, telephone, or in-person banking. There are no extra U of T charges, making this the most efficient option long term.
Important Notes for International Students
- New international students usually pay a non refundable CAD 3,000 admission deposit.
- U of T does not authorize other third-party payment services. Using unofficial providers is at your own risk.
- All payments appear in your ACORN account. International transfers may take a few business days to reflect.
- For study permit or visa purposes, paying through Flywire or Convera provides fast proof of payment.
- Cash, cheques, and debit cards are not accepted for main tuition payments.
- These methods cover tuition, residence, incidental fees, and UHIP health insurance.

- The college infrastructure is very nice
- There is an clean environment maintained by the college
- College provides a lot of facilities to us to feel us comfort
Dislikes
- The college should work on the strictness to the behaviour of students
- There should be improvement in the old college building
- College should give some leaves to students
- There are a lot of platforms where we can find out the place to stay, and if we are not able to find the right place, then there are also some agents available who also help us to find such a place.
- You have to get a proper knowledge and study of the area before buying any place to stay, not to be fooled by anyone.

- My course specifically was a very intense course because of the short duration of the programme, i.e., 9 months. In addition, the difficulty level was very high, as UofT maintains a certain standard in terms of its academic excellence.
- The diversity of course selection was the positive aspect – but the lack of specific focus on international students was a negative aspect.
- It all depends on the subjective course selection of different students.
- 3 in total.
Fees
- The total fees for the programme I selected, Coursework Master of Laws with a Concentration in Business Law, were approximately 53,000 Canadian Dollars. This figure is inclusive of tuition fees and any other miscellaneous fees.
- However, this figure does not include the hostel or the mess charges, as I had to take up off-campus housing and that was not included in the figure mentioned above.

- Course curriculum is moderately difficult. After doing my under- and post-graduation in India, I found most of the courses to be decently easy.
- The courseworks are based on credits. Each course carries 0.25 credits, and by the end of your degree, you need to have 3.5 credits. How you will space out your courses through your degree is based on you.
- Average number of students in my batch would be around 30
- 2 Indian students enrolled in my batch
Fees
- Fees for the entire course per year are ~8000 CAD
- Off-campus housing ranges from 700 to 2200 CAD, depending on the level of luxury/comfort you want
- Fees are charged on a yearly/term basis.
- Monthly expense – 750 750CAD (rent), 200 CAD (groceries), 300CAD (miscellaneous), 660 CAD (8000 total; charged annually)
- The stipend provided more or less covers an ordinary style of living. You can save just enough remotely to fly back and forth to your country.

- Amazing Faculty. The professors are highly qualified PHD scholars, super passionate about their subjects and their teaching methods are so amazing that you genuinely enjoy the classroom lectures and try to understand the subjects beyond the exams prep in some cases
- Amazing Curriculum
- Multiple Clubs related to the career path you are interested in, they are there to help you fill in the gaps to better understand the industry and prepare for interviews
Dislikes
- For the college their is nothing specific that I dislike. Only challenging thing is the Canadian Market. It is very difficult for international students to get internships and jobs because the opportunities are limited, and Canadian students or people who have backgrounds working in the roles similar to they are applying to, (or CFAs for example, in Finance) have an edge over other students.
- This students who are looking for career change will have to hustle a little more than others, but college is there to provide support and guidance

- Difficulty level is a mix of easy, medium and hard as we move forward with terms. 3 subjects and 6 classes in a week, 6 weeks for a term
- Positives are that during the first year, all courses provide you basic and intermediate knowledge of all subjects. Class timings are morning/evening, depending on what time slots are assigned.
- No. of students in a class: 45-50. Diversity is highly emphasised; 15 / 20% cap for Indian students
Fees
- This Year the full program fee is CAD $1,35000, CAD $100,000 for PR and Canadian Citizens. You have to pay the fee divided in 4 parts, semester - wise
- I am not enrolled in university housing but students can submit the application in advance if they need university housing. There is a graduate house (for single student) and family housing options are available for families. There is usually a waitlist and offers are rolled out in serial order; thus, the sooner you apply, the better. Monthly expenditure, approx. $1800-$2000.

- The ambience and the atmosphere is next level.
- Hangout areas are well connected.

- The security is so strict some time they irritate us.
- They are so many students who makes noises.
- University students clubs are not easy to access.
- The online search method is the way I find my accommodations. From searching online, I found many other options as well, which was the only challenge I faced while using this search method. Other than that, everything is okay.

- The events organised in collaboration with different firms - this allowed us connect with various people from the industry hence increasing our network
- Case competitions - we had a variety of case competitions to choose from allowing us to gain knowledge in the desired sector for eg: portfolio management, big data, risk management etc.
- Infrastructure - The Infrastructure was really good which allowed us to spend our major time at college. The availability of study rooms allowed us to collaborate with people from different courses at the same place.
Dislikes
- Career Services - there could have been more collaboration from different firms to generate more opportunities. The overall resume feedback and career guidance was really good but the connection with industries was below par.
- Connectivity with different schools - there were no inter school events in general which restricted in minimal contact from folks from different branches apart from the one's in management.
- Career fairs: there were very few career fairs and they could have done better with the same.

- Coming from a data science background, the difficulty was below par but for freshmen in the batch, the technical subjects were pretty hard.
- The positive aspects were the professors, as they were professional and gave valuable feedback throughout the course. Negative was the timeline and extra-long break during courses.
Fees
- The overall fee was around 77000 CAD, which included the college fee, ancillary fee, gym and other sports activities, health insurance, dental insurance, and a few other things.
- The fee was supposed to be submitted in three parts. The first part was a small amount of about 5000 CAD, which confirmed the seat. The next 2 were major chunks of installments divided equally with deadlines in September and November, respectively.
- The approximate amount might vary from person to person and mostly pins down on the type of housing one would prefer. For the students who preferred graduate housing, that would cost about 1400 CAD per room per month; otherwise, the rent varies b/w 800-1500 CAD per head per month.
- The food cost might vary from 250-350 CAD per month. There is a transit pass for unlimited travel with local transport costing 128 CAD per month.

- The pace of teaching can be quite difficult to deal with, especially as an international student

- The academics in the first year are highly skewed towards Finance and Economics, there are also managerial subjects that help you understand the psychology of leading people.
- With that, you also have multiple case competitions that you could take part in to understand how you can apply what you've learnt in class to real business cases. All in all the theoretical and practical aspects are equal.

- Tuition fees: 110,000$ (without scholarship) to be paid half-yearly
- Monthly expenses: 1400 - Rent (Utilities included)

- If you live within the campus things are incredibly easy as well as cheaper however accommodation on campus is the first to fill out so you need to apply as soon as possible.
- Food expenses are something that may be personal to people, mine comes to 500 and 100 would be any clothing or event you'd like to buy or go to.

- I admire the faculty we have who are open to dealing with our problems and issues throughout the day. They urge all students to attend office hours offered by various departments for external help and clarifications.
- I love the amazing opportunities we have on campus such as joining clubs, being a part of the varsity (our mascot) as well as representing our community and university in a bunch of sports like football, cricket, and basketball.
- There are quite a few options for a good meal on campus as well right from their canteen to Tim Hortons, Starbucks, and Subway!
Dislikes
- The timings of our canteen and other food places on campus are limited during the days and shut down early on weekends.
- Our classes are huge consisting of about 300-500 students which might be a problem sometimes as the professor does not get to address every student individually.
- No student is in their intended major in the first year as we have an additional requirement to be cleared which is to make POST (Program of our choice) to which we are admitted in our second year. This makes the university highly competitive and filters out students at the initial stage itself.

Our course and syllabus are updated every 2-3 years which means that our textbooks change along with our curriculum and sometimes professors as well. Our academics are very up to date and we do seek relevant and upcoming knowledge in our classes only. Our courses and syllabus are structured in a way that provides the student with the utmost exposure and knowledge from various subjects related to that major or field such as courses related to Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Programming, and more for a Management related field.
Fees
The tuition fee for about a year at UofT is CAD 60,000 which is equivalent to about 36 Lakh Indian Rupees, this is not inclusive of meals and residency on campus. This tuition fee is only for international Students. For domestic students or students with a Canadian PR, their tuition fee is much less, up to $8,000 - CAD 10,000 which is equivalent to 5-6 lakh Indian Rupees, this is not inclusive of meals and residency on campus. This fee is for all domestic students. This is usually the different fee structures offered at UofT, however, the tuition is changed based on the student's requirements or if the student is on a scholarship basis.

- I like the sporting facilities, the way things are being taught! Also the way the ranking of the university helped me in getting into various events.
Dislikes
- Less fun activities than other universities. I would say uoft is more academically focused with less activities happening in comparison to other universities.

I was doing a 36-credit program. Full time I had 6 classes each week. The classes were spread out and manageable. The ratio was decent enough to give the teacher time to work well with students, and always posted an online discussion board
Fees
I had to pay for textbooks, computers, and supplies, but my financial aid covered both that and my courses. I really just pay for my housing and living expenses, and I have a job that I work part-time to help pay those costs.

Application for undegraduate programs offered at the University of Toronto must be submitted through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre. You can find the link of this centre under the Undergraduate Admission section at the University of Toronto Admission.
If you have graduated from a designated learning institution in Canada, you may be eligible to apply for PGWP. However, graduating from a designated learning institution does not automatically make you eligible to appy for PGWP. You will be able to apply for PGWP after completing the one-year Certificate in Cloud Computing program of this university.
The University of Toronto does not offer Master in Child Counseling. But the university offers MA Child Study and Education, MA Counselling and Clinical Psychology, M.Ed Counselling and Psychotherapy, M.Ed Global Mental Health and Counselling Psychology, M.Ed Guidance and Counselling, MA School and Clinical Child Psychology. To apply for these programs, you must have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
