- The lack of hangout spots make the university look dull
- The food outlets close early in the university so you have to bring food in you have classes in the evening.
- They charge for each and every stupid stuff.
Colleges Where I Was Accepted
Reason for choosing my college
- This university had a branch in India as well and offered a transfer program so I took my admission during Covid time so it was easier to complete one year back at home and then transferred here.
- Also, they offer a variety of course selections, which made it easier for me to find something that I wanted to do, which is BCIS; it’s a combination of IT and business.
Colleges Where I Was Rejected
Reason for Rejection
- I got rejected because the course got filled and then they asked me to apply for another course but I had already decided on a course in mind that I wanted. So due to that, I had to choose this current university of mine.

Tips to enhance your application
- I would say something that helped me get in was just trying to make it as personal as you can.
- They do want to know about your achievements and stuff but mainly they just want to know you, what you do in your free time, what your goal is, how this university can help you achieve that and stuff.
Admission Experience
- I knew I didn’t want to study in a city; I wanted something away from the hustle and bustle, which made it very simple for me to choose Abbotsford.
- This university offers wide options between co-curricular and other academic clubs.
- Also, it has a wide infrastructure. Students have their own union, which keeps organising events that make university life more interesting. Also, they provide nice co-op opportunities.
Class Schedule
- You can choose your schedule according to yourself. It can be fully personalised, which I love the most.
- So I usually take 4 courses per semester, which makes it easier to handle part-time as well.
- And there are plenty of different sections for the week; you can choose one that suits your schedule the best.
Faculty
- The faculty in the BCIS department is great; they not only share academic knowledge but also life improvement skills, which makes the whole university journey worthwhile.
- The professors are supportive and provide enough office hours for students to clear their doubts outside of the class, which I find very helpful.
Campus Life
- The university hosts lots of events but not many of them compare to UBC but it’s not that bad; there are many events throughout the month.
- Like bunny yoga, mental health dog support, coffee night events during exam weeks, and many more.
- They also host movie nights in the ground, which makes it interesting throughout the semester.
Part Time Jobs
- Mostly Indian students prefer working part-time in the food chain businesses, but I personally never wanted to join that so initially I joined an inventory management company and I started my journey there but later on, I decided to change my job as it wasn’t providing me any further growth.
- Then I started working at H&M and I’m still working there and my journey throughout has been great and I am applying for co-op opportunities now.
- The university offers lots of on-campus job opportunities; you can apply to them even before starting your university journey through the university website.
- Also, there are lots of off-campus opportunities, as there are many local businesses here; it was very easy for me to find my first-ever part-time job here.
Placement
- As I personally haven’t completed my graduation yet, it’s hard for me to say how the full-time opportunities are, but as I know through my seniors, I’ve come to know that there are not many opportunities out there, but if you really try hard, you might be able to find some because there’s a hard competition out there in the world.
Accommodation
- The university made a group for all the students that were going to join in from the next semester, which made it easier to connect with my classmates and more students in the university and through that WhatsApp group, I found my first ever roommates.
- I shifted in with them when I moved into this country but later on I found more friends and I have kept changing my houses.
- It’s not that hard to find housing here. I’ve already changed like six houses here and like, it’s not that hard.
