What Students Say
Likes
- It's one of the few universities that provide one year course in this field.
- Good campus, knowledgeable and passionate staff and availability of all the resources one might need as an international student. The variety of offered courses is also good. One can choose from a 1 year course to a full bachelor's degree program.
Dislikes
- First of all it's far from the downtown of Winnipeg to have to take public transit to commute. Moreover the courses can be more practical as for now a few courses are just theoretical. Although some of the instructors do put efforts individually, the same is not true for all the courses.
Required Exams for Admission
Its a mixed experience. Some things are good like the campus and the instructors. But it's only available for international students, which makes it seem like extended education section of University of Manitoba exists just to make money for the university in exchange for post graduate work permit to the students. Not a loss for students but it's a fact.
Course Curriculum
The courses are relevant and updated every intake as far as I know.
Faculty
We had 1 instructor for 30 students. Each course had a different instructor.
Campus Life
For 1 year course extracurricular activities are not included but the everything is available for degree students.
Placement
Available but limited to 2-3 year programs. My program didn't include the research also it an unpaid industry placement was included.
Accommodation
The rent is comparatively cheaper in Winnipeg than other provinces like BC and Ontario.
Exams
IELTS 6.5 is required along with a bachelor's degree. The program also requires some work experience. Precisely explained why I choose this particular course and university why elaborating how it will be adding value to my career after my bachelor's degree. I also explained what I plan to do after completing my course (explaining my ties to India) to show that I have an intent to go back after completing the course in Canada.
