Campus Life

The campus life here is so good. We can interact with a lot of people. The college respects each and every culture and celebrates every festival including the ones related to other countries. The college organizes a lot of events on campus where students can gather and rejuvenate their minds. I remember one time it was the Diwali fest. The college celebrated it like it was their own culture. I love the way the college welcomes every community and gives them a space to get to know other communities. The infrastructure is really commendable. The college has a recreational center where we can play games like bowling, pool, golf and there's a huge food court beside it. There's a big gym where we can go and exercise. The college has many clubs who organize events.

It was easy for me to arrange an accommodation. I shortlisted some houses through facebook marketplace. But I got one through an instagram account which is a helping hand for all international students. So, I finalized a townhouse and paid the rent from my GIC. The food and related expenses were also done using my GIC. But they didn't cost me much.

The accommodations were fairly simple to get. We were 4 students from the same part of Gujarat and decided to share a space. It worked out very well for us as the sport was available very close to the school. We mainly cooked at home or got a take out. It was a bit higher in cost, but getting food as a group of roommates was better.

Campus Life

There are many events that keep on happening in college, you just need to keep your eyes and arms open to notice what's coming up and to participate in it. The campus is quite diverse as you'll see natives along with many international students coming from Columbia, the Philippines, Asia, South Africa, the US, and what not. It feels good to be a part of diversity at a learning institute where you find yourself learning about various cultures and finding similarities among the differences. Moreover, the infrastructure is really good as you'll see the college is well maintained along with ample amount of sitting area throughout the campus.

I rented a room on a sharing basis, and throughout the course, I changed 3 houses due to a change in job positions. The house rent was around $450 on average. An Instagram page by ottawastudenthelper helped me in finding out a residence for me every time I needed to move. The grocery expenses were around $100 - 150.

Campus life is the best with lots of fun and activities going on every each. There is a theater in college which brings many exciting movies and dance competitions, etc. Moreover, there are many cafes and restaurants in college which have different types of food for people from different nations. Wi-Fi is available all over the campus including library. There is a study room as well as sleep room where one can relax depending on mood. Talking about sports, we got basketball court, badminton court, soccer, pool table, bowling, etc. in the campus which everyone can explore as the fees are covered on tuition.

Accommodation in Ottawa is pretty cheap as compared to Toronto. An average rent would lie between 400-450 CAD for sharing. However, rent increases for private rooms reaching nearly 600 CAD. The cost is pretty manageable as it includes all the utilities and the only cost you need to pay is for grocery which would range from 100-150 CAD.

The Accommodation is 1200 CAD per month.

The college has the right mix of advanced infrastructure that supports professional learning of the material and a curriculum that helps to test the skills.

I lived in a shared accommodation off-campus since the college residence is too expensive for an international student in my perspective. For an average shared room with 2/3 people it can be $300 per month including utilities based on the location you live (downtown houses can be more expensive). While for the second year I started living in my own personal room in a shared house which is around $500-$550 including all utilities.

The course Business Intelligence at Algonquin College is an excellent course for those who wanted to make a shift of career to the Data analytics side and that was the reason I chose the course also because at Algonquin they have the option of doing a co-op after the completion of the course.

I decided to go to practice nursing as a way to build my bedside manner and patient care before going to RN. I chose this college because it was close to home, and made everything cheaper, and had me save money. The application was easy through OCAS. This program does require writing the HPAT which will run you 50$.

Algonquin campus is huge, from back home I always wanted to be a part of Algonquin College and now am finally in. Algonquin has tons of opportunities for students. Faculty of college itself proves why students love their college. My college thunder team is a best and important part of the college. Study spaces all around campus make students to score good marks as much as they can without any excuses. College keeps on making improvements to make their students feel they are at the right place. Being an International student I never felt like I spend a lot because am getting benefits in the college. How can I forget college theatre, I always love to watch free movies in the College theatre. I can speak fr the whole day about my college, I love my college.
