What Students Say?
Likes
- The ambience and infrastructure of the college.
- All of the professors have atleast 5 years of experience in the field they are teaching the subject which helps in giving real life examples to the learners.
Dislikes
- The college needs to work on increasing the count of cultural events being hosted in the college.
- The Indian events (if organised) are held in the open ground or in the hall while you'll notice theater and music hall being available for other Canadian events, so it seems a little biased.
The admission process is simple. You need to apply for admission at their website. I had to upload my previous education list along with my IELTS score along with some other basic questions. All of my procedures were done by my consultant- Zee overseas who contacted the college regularly for updates on my file as the agent is Ottawa-based.
Course Curriculum
Attendance was not mandatory for some professors while others took random attendance before starting the class. Attending tests was mandatory as you had to be in the class while doing your test until and unless it was an online class.
Placement
I never got a job in my field so I can't really comment on that. But one of my classmates who got Co-Op got paid $23/hr for working as a lab assistant. The mistake I made was listening to the other students who said that only intelligent kids will get the job first then only we can get the job. No! You will get the job only if YOU apply for it.
Fees
I paid through my agent by e-transferring the amount. My fee was around $19,600 which was paid fully in the beginning only. I didn't have any other college expenses as all of the mandatory subscriptions to the software or books were provided by the college.
Faculty
The professors usually take all the doubts till a day before the test or the class in which the assignment is due. A professor has 30 to 35 students in his class which makes it possible to answer all the questions.
Campus Life
There are many events that keep on happening in college, you just need to keep your eyes and arms open to notice what's coming up and to participate in it. The campus is quite diverse as you'll see natives along with many international students coming from Columbia, the Philippines, Asia, South Africa, the US, and what not. It feels good to be a part of diversity at a learning institute where you find yourself learning about various cultures and finding similarities among the differences. Moreover, the infrastructure is really good as you'll see the college is well maintained along with ample amount of sitting area throughout the campus.
Hostel
I rented a room on a sharing basis, and throughout the course, I changed 3 houses due to a change in job positions. The house rent was around $450 on average. An Instagram page by ottawastudenthelper helped me in finding out a residence for me every time I needed to move. The grocery expenses were around $100 - 150.
