- High fee comparatively to other similar colleges
Campus Life
- My university has 2 campuses. QUT Gardens Point campus and QUT Kelvin Grove Campus.
- Both Campuses have library facilities. There are sports facilities such as a gym and swimming pool in the Garden view campus and a big stadium area in the Kelvin Grove Campus. Big cafeteria area; meeting rooms are available on both campuses. There is also a retail store available for students on the campus. There is a shuttle bus available between the two campuses.
- The various festivals, like the International Ethnic festival where students from different countries showcase their culture through colourful outfits and food and delicacies.
- There are different clubs, such as Science clubs and fashion clubs, which encourage students to present their innovative ideas and work by rewarding their work.
Accommodation
- I was lucky to have a relative living in Australia. I lived in their family home.
- Typically it would cost about $350 per week to have a room in a house with an attached bathroom and common kitchen and all the bill such as gas, electricity and internet, covered.
- If want to be economical, then you can get a room which is not in the city precinct with common bathroom, kitchen and living space for about $800 per month with about $90 per month for bills
- I did not encounter any challenges
- Future students should look for shared room advertisements on Facebook marketplace and Gumtree. Please check the accommodation physically before signing any lease or bond.

- The physical infrastructure is really good. The 24*7 library, sports facilities, free cycle parking, all is a great help to students.
- Classrooms are really well maintained, fully air-conditioned, and projectors and mic for the professors which serves as an easy communication facilitator.
- The college provides you with a dedicated portal for all the teaching material, videos, and other communications, which is really exhaustive and is provides a great deal of information, especially for a new student.
Dislikes
- The classroom teaching is quite similar to India, and worse in some cases, depending on the professors. Some of the professors, tutors really come and read out of the slides which may not a value add to the students looking for a practical exposure.
- The revaluation process, in case a student fails a course, is not quite helpful (that too depending on professors/tutors again). Some tutors/professors are unwilling to have a proper discussion regarding your answers, although there is an official mechanism to revaluation. To note, there is a formal process to challenge your professors, but that may lead to your marks increasing or decreasing depending on what the new independent evaluator thinks of your answers.
- Some courses have pre-requisites which makes it difficult for students to just sail through. If you fail the prerequisite, you can't enroll for a course dependent on that. In some cases, that one subject is a pre-requisite for most of the courses in your degree, and if you fail that, you need to adjust your course structure accordingly. BE VERY CAREFUL TO CHECK YOUR COURSE STRUCTURE AND ALL THE PRE-REQUISITIES.
Campus Life
- There are 2 campuses: Gardens Point (near Brisbane City) and Kelvins Grove.
- Facilities include a 24*7 library, basket ball court, gym, swimming, parking, medical, food outlets, seating areas, and botanical gardens.
- Major Events & Clubs: QUT Guild O-Week (Orientation Week), QUT International Festival, QUT Classic, QUT Business & Consulting Club, QUT Dragon Boat Regatta, QUT Cup.
Accommodation
- I found the accommodation using online portals like https://www.realestate.com.au/, which provide you with a lot of listings with pictures, rentals, and amenities involved.
- Monthly rental for me was $395, shared by two of us for a bedroom, separate bathroom, and shared kitchen.
- Challenges involve finding a decent enough house as per the requirements, within a budget, and not far from the city. The recommendation would be to look for different options on a variety of portals, use Facebook groups, and go for a lot of house inspections to understand what works for you.
- Mine was about 2.5 km from the college.

Networking and travel opportunities in which QUT was able to offer me in addition to my studies itself. QUT offers many short and long term exchange programs as well as study tours which allows small groups of students to travel overseas and gain credible experiences
Because this is the only university in Brisbane which focus on more practical application than theory in technology field there are a lot of opportunities in this university to work on IT projects with supervisors and learn how this field operates in real life which motivated me even more to join this university
I heard many good things from past students, my siblings also went to this university and had positive experiences. It was closer than Griffith and I also liked the campuses a lot better than any other university I looked at.
I had the course I wanted and was easily accessible. I enjoyed the general atmosphere of the campus and the facilities were good. There was also a broad range of clubs and societies that interested me.
It had lots of freebies and it's just a great school from word of mouth it's also easy to access and who doesn't like free stuff. I'll go anywhere if they do lots of giveaways and market days and fun activities.
Accommodation
I just lived in a share house off of campus. It essentially just keeps your spaces clean, have good hygiene, do your laundry and don't leave your rubbish around. Be respectful of your roommates, but just be careful as your roommates won't always care as much as you do.
I elected to go to QUT due to its reputation. I had heard and researched that QUT had one of the best technology courses and curriculum in comparison to other universities teaching the same course. Its location is in the middle of the city also made it easy for me to reach it from work.
I heard QUT has the best learning faculties. I have a lot of friends who go there. QUT is in the top 10 universities in Australia. I have amazing support from tutors and lecturers. The campus is based close to home.
Accommodation
I live in off-campus accommodation although it is only for university students, it?s situated outside the city which gives a lower rent. With efficient transportation systems, it makes it easier to travel.
QUT has a good ranking which will give me a recognized degree, and also with their learning resources outside the classroom, it will allow me to gain practical knowledge. Brisbane being a very hospital city made me consider it as well.
