Planning note: Trimester 2, 2026 closed on 22 June 2026, so July entry is no longer possible. Target the live Trimester 3, 2026 window or move directly to the Trimester 1, 2027 primary intake.
Griffith University Admission Eligibility for Indian Students
Griffith maps Indian academic qualifications directly to the Australian Year 12 and Bachelor’s framework. Below are the institution-wide academic thresholds, English-test minimums, and the Indian-specific English waiver pathways published on the official entry requirements page.
Griffith University Academic Entry Requirements
Indian qualifications are assessed against the Australian framework. The institution-wide academic minimums for international applicants are:
- UG general entry: Class XII at 65% from CBSE, ICSE, or recognised state board.
- PG general entry: Bachelor’s degree, GPA 4.5/7.0 (about 65% Indian average).
- Selective programs: Health, education, and law need 70 to 75% in Class XII or Bachelor’s.
Indian Class XII results are averaged across the best four academic subjects. Diploma and vocational study may earn course credit toward a Bachelor degree, subject to assessment.
Griffith University English Language Requirements
Standard entry to most undergraduate and master’s programs accepts these test scores. Pharmacy, Nursing, and Education programs require IELTS 7.0 or equivalent.
| Test | Minimum Score | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 6.5 overall | No subscore below 6.0 |
| TOEFL iBT | 79 | No section below 19 |
| PTE Academic | 58 overall | No section below 50 |
Griffith IELTS Waiver for Indian Students:
Indian applicants can skip the English test through one of two pathways. First, you scored 65% or higher in English at Class XII level from CBSE, ICSE, or a recognised state board. Second, your school issues a valid Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter on letterhead confirming English-medium schooling. Submit either document with your first upload, and the international admissions team confirms waiver eligibility during assessment.

- Alternatively, a Master’s with a substantial research thesis component.
- English: IELTS 7.0 overall with no band below 6.5 for most disciplines.

Planning note: Strong PhD applicants contact a prospective supervisor 4 to 6 months before submitting an Expression of Interest. A signed supervisor agreement materially strengthens the scholarship outcome.
Griffith University Application Process for Indian Students
Griffith accepts international applications through three channels: directly online via the Griffith portal, through a registered Griffith education agent in India, or through QTAC if you are already studying in Australia. Most Indian applicants use the direct online route or work with a registered agent in India.
Griffith Online Application Steps
- Choose your program from the Griffith Degree Finder and confirm intake availability.
- Gather Class XII or Bachelor’s transcripts, English test or MOI letter, and passport.
- Register on the Griffith online application portal and complete the form.
- Upload supporting documents per the program’s requirement list.
- Pay the application fee of AUD 50 (around INR 3,258) by credit card on the Griffith application portal.
- Submit and wait for the International Admissions Officer’s acknowledgement email.
Griffith Admission Decisions Timeline
- Acknowledgement email arrives within 2 to 5 business days of submission.
- Full assessment typically takes 2 to 4 weeks for complete files.
- Conditional offers list pending items, such as final transcripts or English score.
- Accept the offer, pay the deposit, then receive the Confirmation of Enrolment for visa.
- Deferral of up to one trimester is generally available before the program start date.
Insider note: Griffith routinely issues conditional offers within 10 working days when applicants submit a complete file including transcripts, English evidence, and a clean passport scan.
Griffith University Documents Required for Indian Students
Griffith assesses international applications on a single uploaded document set. Submit certified or notarised copies; the international admissions team requests originals only when needed. Indian applicants typically prepare the following items.
- Class XII and Class X mark sheets and passing certificates, certified.
- Bachelor’s transcripts and provisional or final certificate (for PG entry).
- Scanned biodata page of valid Indian passport, 6 months minimum validity.
- English test score report (IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE) or Medium of Instruction letter.
- Statement of Purpose outlining academic goals and program fit.
- Two academic or professional reference letters on letterhead.
- Updated CV or résumé, mandatory for MBA and PhD applications.
- Work experience letters for MBA applicants showing role, tenure, and reporting.
- Financial declaration or sponsor letter for the visa stage.
- Research proposal (PhD and MPhil applicants only).
Upload PDF scans no larger than 5MB per file. Combine certificates and mark sheets into a single PDF per qualification where possible.
Griffith University Acceptance Rate for Indian Students
Griffith does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates place selectivity at around 50%, based on competitive intake patterns and the moderate entry threshold for most coursework programs. The university operates an access-oriented model: it admits most international applicants who meet the published academic and English minimums.
Griffith University Selection Criteria
Coursework master’s and most undergraduate degrees admit applicants who meet the published minimums. Acceptance becomes tighter for clinical health, education, and select MBA cohorts where prerequisite subjects, work-experience floors, and placement caps apply.
Strengthening Your Griffith Application
- Submit Class XII or Bachelor’s results 5% or more above the stated minimum.
- Front-load English scores; an IELTS 7.0 for a 6.5 program reads strongly.
- Add a focused SOP showing program-career alignment, per the Genuine Student framework.
Insider note: Master’s programs in IT, Business, and Public Health convert most complete Indian-applicant files. Clinical Pharmacy and Nursing run tighter because of clinical placement caps in Queensland.
Australia Student Visa for Griffith University Applicants
Indian applicants need an Australian Student Visa Subclass 500 to study at Griffith. Apply only after receiving the Confirmation of Enrolment from Griffith and paying the tuition deposit. Indian applications process in 4 to 6 weeks on average through the ImmiAccount portal.
The visa application charge is AUD 2,000 (around INR 1.30 Lakhs), paid once at lodgement. Required items include the CoE, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the visa length, financial capacity proof covering 12 months of tuition plus living costs, English evidence, and the Genuine Student (GS) statement.
The Genuine Student criterion replaced the older Genuine Temporary Entrant rule in March 2024. Indian applicants address four questions on home-country ties, course choice, career fit, and any other relevant information. Post-study work intent no longer counts against the application under the GS framework.
Planning note: Begin the Australia visa file the moment your Griffith CoE arrives. The student visa application charge has risen at recent reviews, so budget for the live rate at submission and finalise OSHC enrolment before you lodge.
Tips for Griffith University Admissions for Indian Students
The following tips are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Griffith University.
- Lock the primary intake. Trimester 1 (March) opens the widest program list — start your file 6 months ahead.
- Use the MOI waiver early. Upload English-medium evidence first to skip IELTS scheduling delays.
- Front-load financial proof. A bank statement covering 12 months of tuition plus living costs unblocks the visa stage fast.
- Pick a Bachelor’s-aligned major. A clean academic-to-program link strengthens the Genuine Student response.
- Pay the AUD 50 (around INR 3,258) fee promptly. Unpaid files sit in pending and lose assessment days.
- Apply via a registered India agent. Approved agents handle CoE issuance faster than first-time direct files.

Overview
There are several reasons behind accepting the offer. Firstly, the location that is gold coast such an exquisite place having pleasant weather all over the year. Secondly, GC is the tourist place so getting a job will be a bit easier in comparison to other states. Lastly, Griffith university was famous for the course which I am pursuing and it is the most important reason among all.
Scholarship
I got 20 percent scholarship due to the pandemic otherwise it was 10 percent on the basis of my marks in graduation. No application is required for that automatically it is applied.
Overview
I chose the Bachelor of Psychology (Hons.) Program at Griffith University as the cost of the course for international students is more affordable when compared to other universities in Australia. The course is highly regarded in the country as one of the best schools to offer APAC registered psychology courses. The university has plenty support systems such as international student advisors and griffith mates which helps nee students integrate into the community and get to know other new students and the country. These support systems aided in my decision making process of chosing a university.
Scholarship
I recieved the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Scholarship wich is $2000/trimester for the first 2 trimesters. To obtain this scholarship I was required to weite an essay on why I deserved it.
Overview
Its a nice quiet uni in the woods. It's a beautiful campus. The courses are understanding and at my pace. The community is international and very queer-friendly. Griffith uni has nice classes with recorded lectures and workshops. I also did a biomedical science degree. The lecturers listen to students.
Scholarship
The campus does not offer these. IF you are a Ph.D. student or masters student you can apply for a $20k scholarship. The Aus govt isn't approving these though so you likely won't get one. I never worked at uni.
Overview
It was known for being a good uni for a teaching degree. The campus is small and easy to navigate but still has a couple of cafes and lots of space to study. The uni was very close to my house so I saved money by staying at home.
Overview
I chose Griffith because it is well rated by other peers and very well known for its nursing course. It's close to home and easy for me to access the on-campus classes and off campus curriculum online.
Overview
The entry level was easy to achieve for the degree I wanted, had really good reports from past students. It has great teaching staff for the subjects with a ton of real-world experience and offers a lot of practical elements to go with the theory. Also has pretty decent and cheap accommodation.
Scholarship
I have received financial aid in the form of a once off $240 bursary from the University. I have also received scholarships from the Australian Centrelink department in the form of a Relocation Scholarship to move to university. I also received a student start-up loan from Centrelink to assist with the costs of study each semester and regular Youth Allowance payments to assist with the cost of living while studying.
Overview
I chose this college because of its wide range of courses I can choose between and the ability to merge some degrees within each other. At some colleges, they only have degrees such as law but at Griffith, they have degrees that you can merge such as law and politics.
Overview
I was from a different state where the closest uni didn't offer my chosen degree, Griffith came and had an info day and I really liked the values and the location to move to.
Scholarship
Yes, I gain financial help via Centrelink who give me youth allowance payments for studying full time.
