Bond in Medical Colleges is a legal contract between the college and the student that obligates the student to pay a specified amount if they decide to discontinue their course midway or do not wish to serve for the stipulated duration under the state authority after the completion of their course. MBBS Graduates who will be appearing for NEET PG to secure a seat for PG Medical Courses in various government and private medical colleges are bound to follow the bond rules. 

Each state in India has its own criteria and bond policy that needs to be signed by the candidate before being admitted to various medical colleges in the state. The terms and conditions of these bonds differ as per the quota of seats, type of institution, and the rules defined by the State Government's Health Department in the case of Government Medical Colleges and by Institute Management in the case of Deemed University Management Quota.

Statewise List for PG Medical Bond

NEET PG Counselling is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee and the respective State Counselling Authority for admission to PG Medical courses. MCC conducts the NEET PG Counselling for 50 % All-India Quota Seats in Government Colleges, and Central and Deemed Universities. The remaining 50% State Quota Seats in Government Colleges and 100% Seats in Private Colleges are filled through the State-Quota Counselling conducted by the respective State Counselling Authority.

Ans. No, there is no Service Bond for Delhi after completion of PG courses such as MD or MS.

Ques. What are the types of Bonds in Medical Colleges?

Ans. There are three major types of Bonds in Medical Colleges which are as follows: 

  • Service Bond: Candidates need to serve as senior resident doctors after completion of their PG course. In case the candidate wishes not to serve, he/she needs to pay the agreed bond penalty amount to the Government to get his/her post-graduate qualification certificate.
  • Discontinue Penalty Bond: Students who leave their course midway before completing the tenure need to pay the Discontinue Penalty Bond to the college. 
  • Bank Guarantee: Some States ask for a particular amount of bank guarantee at the time of admission which acts like a fixed deposit that will be frozen till the student completes his/her course and fulfills the bond terms.
