NIFT 2026 Round 1 seat allotment has been released at nift.admissions.nic.in; students who received a seat must submit their willingness letter and pay the admission fee by July 1, 2026 (midnight).

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has announced Round 1 seat allotment for all undergraduate and postgraduate design programmes. Students now have a short window to complete two mandatory steps — selecting a willingness option and paying the admission fee — before the portal closes at midnight on July 1, 2026. Missing this deadline cancels the allotment and removes eligibility for Round 2 and Round 3 counselling.

  • Round 1 allotment released on June 27, 2026 at nift.admissions.nic.in.
  • Willingness submission and fee payment window closes on July 1, 2026 (midnight).
  • Three willingness options available: Float, Slide or Freeze — your choice controls eligibility for subsequent rounds.
  • Choosing Freeze permanently locks your seat; choosing Float keeps you eligible for upgrades in Round 2 (July 7) and Round 3 (July 15).
  • Final reporting to the allotted NIFT campus is on July 29, 2026 with original documents.

Steps to Follow After NIFT 2026 Round 1 Allotment

Complete all steps below before the July 1, 2026 midnight deadline:

  1. Log in to nift.admissions.nic.in using your registration ID and password.
  2. Download your provisional allotment letter and verify the allotted programme, specialisation and campus.
  3. Select your willingness option — Float, Slide or Freeze — based on whether you want to keep this seat or seek an upgrade in later rounds.
  4. Pay the admission fee online through the portal before midnight on July 1. No offline payment mode is available.
  5. Save your payment confirmation receipt — you will need it during document verification at the campus on July 29.

Warning: Failing to pay the fee by July 1 automatically cancels your Round 1 allotment. You will not be eligible for Round 2 or Round 3 and can only participate in the NIFT 2026 Spot Round.

Willingness Letter: Float, Slide or Freeze

The willingness letter is the most important decision after receiving your Round 1 allotment. Each option has different consequences for your participation in subsequent rounds.

Option What It Means Eligible for Round 2 and Round 3?
Float Accept your current seat but seek an upgrade across any campus or programme from your preference list Yes — considered in all subsequent rounds
Slide Accept your current seat but seek an upgrade within the same campus only (programme or specialisation change) Yes — eligible for a programme upgrade at the same campus
Freeze Permanently accept the allotted seat with no further upgrades No — admission locked; not eligible for further rounds

Key rule: Willingness can only move from less restrictive to more restrictive — Float to Slide or Slide to Freeze. Once you submit Freeze, switching back to Float or Slide is not permitted.

Choose Freeze if you are satisfied with your current allotment. Choose Float if you received a lower-preference campus or programme and want to remain in contention for upgrades in Round 2 (July 7, 2026) and Round 3 (July 15, 2026).

Admission Fee Payment by July 1

The fee payment deadline for NIFT 2026 Round 1 is July 1, 2026 (midnight). Pay only through the official portal at nift.admissions.nic.in. No offline or third-party payment channels are accepted.

  • Only one fee payment is required for the entire NIFT 2026 counselling process — Rounds 1, 2 and 3 are covered by a single payment.
  • If you choose Float and receive an upgraded seat in Round 2 or Round 3, no additional payment is needed.
  • Accepted payment modes: net banking, debit card and credit card.
  • Complete the transaction well before midnight to avoid last-minute portal congestion on the due date.
