What inspired you to pursue a career in higher education, and what drew you to your current role as a Principal?

My journey into higher education and my role as a Principal was driven by a deep passion for learning, growth, and the desire to make a positive impact on the lives of students. From an early age, I was captivated by the world of academia and the transformative power of education. I’ve always been a curious individual, hungry for knowledge and understanding. This natural inclination towards learning drew me towards the academic environment, where I could constantly engage with new ideas and explore various subjects. Throughout my educational journey, I encountered teachers and mentors who played a significant role in shaping my perspectives and guiding me toward excellence. The realization that education has the power to transform lives and societies fueled my determination to contribute positively. I wanted to be part of the process that empowers individuals, equipping them with the tools they need to succeed and make meaningful contributions to the world. In summary, a passion for learning, the impact of mentorship, a drive to make a difference, leadership abilities, and a commitment to fostering a positive educational environment were the key inspirations that led me to pursue a career in higher education and assume the role of a Principal. What do you see as the biggest challenges facing higher education today, and how do you think your institution is addressing those challenges?

The biggest challenges facing higher education today include Rising Costs, Access and Equity, Technological Disruption, Changing Job Landscape, Student Mental Health, Quality of Teaching, Environmental Sustainability, and Changing Pedagogies. To address these challenges, we offer a range of financial aid options and scholarships to make education more accessible. Our institution promotes diversity and equity through targeted recruitment efforts and inclusive policies. We’re embracing online and blended learning to enhance flexibility and reach a wider student population. Our institution collaborates closely with industries to offer programs aligned with market needs, enhancing graduates’ employability. We provide comprehensive mental health support, including counseling and wellness programs. We invest in faculty development programs to ensure high-quality teaching and innovative pedagogies. To balance these duties effectively, I employ strategic delegation, meticulous time management, open communication, collaborative teamwork, adaptable decision-making, and prioritized self-care.
