UT Austin MS Computer Science: Fees, Deadlines,Eligibility & Scholarships

Applications are accepted for Fall intake only. Upcoming deadlines is 15 December, 2025 for Fall 2026 Intake. Eligibile sophomore students can avail National Instruments Endowed Scholarship for Excellence, award amounts are distributed based on merit.

The program comprises of the following tracks

Courswork-

• Major Coursework Requirements:
  • 24 credit hours required, with 9 hours from diversity courses (applications, systems, theory) and 15 hours from CS graduate courses.
  • One undergraduate course may substitute a graduate course (max 3 hours).
  • Students must achieve at least a B- in diversity courses and a C in CS graduate courses.
• Minor Coursework:
  • 6 credit hours of coursework from outside Computer Science, based on the student's interests

Thesis-

• Major Coursework Requirements
  • 9 hours of diversity courses (1 course each from applications, systems, and theory)
  • 9 hours of any 3 CS graduate courses
  • 6 hours of thesis courses (CS 698A and CS 698B)
• Minor Coursework Requirements
  • Total required: 6 hours (2 courses) in a supporting subject(s) outside of Computer Science
