- The political science bachelor's program allows students to focus on the subjects that interest them most, with upper-level concentrations available in American politics; citizenship; equality and inequality; global politics; law and institutions; political theory; political economy and development; public law; security and statecraft.
- The program has progressed through introductory, concentration, elective, and writing-intensive capstone courses to build a comprehensive understanding of politics in all forms. Start your learning in our three gateway courses on American Politics, Comparative and International Politics, and Political Theory, and then advance through courses that students choose to deepen their understanding of their preferred concentration.
- Students will use tools like historical and institutional analysis, interpretive approaches, and positive hypothesis-testing and modeling to deepen their comprehension of political issues.
- Students may also opt to gain hands-on political experience through a wide range of internship opportunities, including in the New York State Assembly and Senate, and through our Semester in Washington Program.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have a minimum of 120 credits and at least 90 credits in the liberal arts and sciences
- Students must achieve and maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
- The students should have completed the General Education Program at the University at Albany
- Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE scores.
Indian Students Eligibility:
- Students should submit required official and complete individual mark skeets for each examination attempt, including subsidiary exams.
- Photocopies of student's mark sheets are accepted only when they are attested by the University Registrar or Controller of Examinations and placed in a sealed, stamped envelope that is sent directly to the Graduate School.
