- This course presents a comprehensive survey of cybersecurity technology, including basic theory and concepts. Students will gain hands-on familiarity with cybersecurity technology through lab exercises, in-class studios, and scenarios. Topics covered include security considerations surrounding operating systems, the web, email, databases, wireless technology, the cloud, and the Internet of Things. Also addressed are cryptography, secure software design, physical security, and human factors in cybersecurity.
- The Master of Science (MS) in Cybersecurity Engineering at Washington University will give students the skills, knowledge and expertise needed to work in the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity and to design, engineer and architect cybersecurity technology and systems.
- All students in the MS in Cybersecurity Engineering program must have previously completed (as documented by their undergraduate transcript), successfully tested to place out of, or completed .
- Graduates of this program will be equipped with the theoretical and hands-on engineering expertise required to solve complex cybersecurity problems that affect diverse enterprises worldwide.
- This program includes a set of core foundational courses that focus on operating systems as well as network and systems security.
- Students pursuing this degree may also choose from more advanced cybersecurity elective courses that will build deeper integrative knowledge of key concepts.
- Work in the program culminates in either a capstone project or a final thesis. The capstone project should focus on a specific set of technical cybersecurity challenges, with the objective of designing an implementable solution to those challenges.
- Students planning to pursue a PhD degree after completing the MS in Cybersecurity degree are particularly encouraged to pick the thesis option.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students have to complete a science bachelor’s honors degree in computer science or a highly related discipline.
- Bachelor's (4-year, honors degree) or equivalent from a recognized degree-granting institution.
- GPA of at least 3.0/4.33 (B grade) in the last 2 years of study is required to be eligible for this program.
- Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and PTE to get admission in this program for all international applicants.
- TOEFL iBT Test, TOEFL iBT Home Edition, and TOEFL iBT Paper Edition are accepted.
- Proficiency in English (CPE) or C2 Proficiency – 191.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
- Or, completed graduation in B.Sc.(H) Computer Science or B.Sc. Applied Physical Sciences with Mathematics and Computer Science.
- Or, completed a B.Sc (General) degree from a recognized institution.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
