- What I disliked is the high tuition fees and living costs in school,
- There is limited availability of housing, especially for upperclassmen,
- Distance from family and friends (for out of state/international students)
Campus Life
My school campus life is vibrant and diverse, offering a unique blend of academic rigour, cultural experiences and extracurricular activities. With over 500 student organizations, clubs, and groups, there's something for everyone. The residential life, student activities, campus resources and traditions. I met many of my fellow countrymen on campus. The infrastructure of the library, Butler Library is the main library, with over 2 million volumes and 46000 serials. Sports, Baker Athletics Complex features a stadium track and field facilities, a medical facility student health service providing primary care, mental health services and health education. Campus Fest like spring fling, it's an annual festival celebrating the end of the semester with live music, food, and games. Clubs Columbia Daily Spectator (newspaper).
Hostel
Ok, campus housing, residence halls, suite-style housing, and apartment-style living. Also campus housing, dormitories, suite-style housing and apartment-style housing. When shortlisting off-campus accomodations one must consider locations, cost, space and layout and amenities. Meal plan options and food-related expenses on campus average $800-$1200 per month for students living off campus and grocery stores nearby.
Campus Life
My college doesn’t have a campus, but main columbia has and it’s always lively. There are numerous events happening everyday and lots of resources in library. Wifi is everywhere and we have access to gym too.
Hostel
I didn’t get on campus accommodation but that’s pretty good otherwise looking for houses is difficult. Average rent is $1400 per person.

- I accepted it for the reputation, career opportunities, location and courses.,
- It has a great reputation and is located in New York City, with close access to large corporations and an extensive network. The courses offered at the Business School is really informative and interactive. The people are really helpful.
- Dislikes:
- Columbia is smaller than the other ivy league institutions in the US. The classes at the engineering school are heavily quantitative, and I found it less useful compared to the more business school classes, due to my focus on pursuing a consulting career.
Campus Life
Columbia constantly hosts several events on campus, and off campus, which are great for meeting people. There are several clubs for people interested like Robotics club, but also for career related purposes like Consulting Club.
Hostel
We were allowed to choose our own accommodations. It ranges anywhere between $1K to $1.5K on average, to live close to campus.

- MS Data Science program is a well know program by Columbia University with renowned and distinguished Professors.,
- The courses, both academic and professional developmental helped me learn more about myself - my strengths and weaknesses and how to build a work oriented lifestyle which would help me in the long-run.,
- The college campus is ecstatic, and the libraries provide a beneficial space to study with a clear mind and focus. I like the way events are organized and students are encouraged to pursue their goals.,
- In a gist, supportive mentors and batch mates have helped me realize the value of networking and making connections.
- Dislikes:
- I do not like the location of the university as it in not in the middle of a happening area. Although it stretches various streets in New York City, it is not an eventful place. This is the only aspect which I do not like.
Campus Life
There are various campus connections, sports like gym, basketball, yoga etc which is of use to the students and faculties. There is wifi on campus throughout.
Hostel
Average rent off campus in New York city is $1400.

- This is an Ivy League University. its one of the best and most elite universities in the world offering first class facilities and academic education to students.,
- The University is really great. There are tremendous amount of resources available for each student.,
- The academic curriculum is really intense but every bit worth the efforts.,
- The faculty and university staff are very helpful and everyone is open to chat even outside of academics.,
- The location of Columbia University right in the heart of NYC poses an added advantage.,
- You have so many experiences and opportunities to explore new things while studying from the top Ivy League University in the world.
- Dislikes:
- Nothing. So far I haven't encountered anything that I would say I dislike about this university. Maybe for students who are vegetarians, its a bit challenging due to lack of veg options available for eating. But with time one becomes used to it.
Campus Life
There are numerous clubs, events and extracurricular activities on campus. There are almost 15 libraries on campus with great sport facilities and wi-fi connectivity.
Hostel
Rent in NYC especially Manhattan can be well over $1000 for a decent room. If you are sharing with someone, it will clearly decrease.
Campus Life
Campus life is great. I got elected into the Student Government in my first semester so I could be involved in improving it even more. Libraries are plentiful, my favourite is the Butler library, it's got a lot of halls and rooms designed for different needs. Lots of exploring to do if you're into that. Events are top class.
Hostel
I've leased an apartment in the vicinity of the campus. It's about a 7 minute walk to school. I'm sharing with 2 other grad students and our rent in total is $3,400 per month. The location is absolutely amazing and this rent is one of the more affordable ones you'll find in this area.
Campus Life
The Campus infrastructure is great we have 3-4 libraries on the campus, there is indoor gymnasium which can be accessed for free. Students get free WiFi on the Campus. The Clubs and chapters are limited for graduate students when compared with undergraduate students. However the ones available are very active. Some clubs help for interview preparation, they also arrange sessions with recent graduates who bagged internship/full time job offers at reputed firms, these sessions are helpful. As Columbia is an Ivy League institute, it provides great training facilities for students with professional sports experience
Hostel
For Graduate students Columbia doesn't offer any On-Campus accommodation so students have to search for options outside the campus. Columbia provides housing outside the campus though, people can opt for single rooms. If one wants to stay near the Campus it would cost around 900 - 1100$/month for each person if we opt for 3 bed, 1 bath or 4 bed 2 bath flats.
Hostel
Mix of single and double room - students have a choice. Dorms usually cost $12,000 per year but the fees is included in tuition. You can only move off-campus into an apartment.
Prestige of Ivy League, location in New York City, rigorous Computer Science program
Hostel
I live in an apartment near campus and the accommodation near campus is pretty expensive. If you are inclined towards taking a private room in an apartment, the rent would usually be in the range of $900-$1200 per month, including amenities. If you're open to sharing the room, the expense can reduce by around $500.
I chose Columbia University because of its brand and location, access to immense opportunities in NYC, and the opportunity to build a good professional network.
Hostel
No - I share an apartment outside. Rentals are generally expensive though.
I had two PhD offers and I chose this one mainly because my previous advisors recommended it. It is a presitigious university in an exciting and happening city and an experienced advisor who is a "good human being". All of these points, except university prestige, I still think are important parameters to make the choice. I would also look at the department structure and work culture - both of which are often better at public universities.
