The nationally recognized Department of Spanish and Portuguese at KU offers a comprehensive graduate program in Spanish language, literature, and cultures. The major emphasis of teaching and research is literature and cultural studies; however, the department also offers courses in literary theory, Portuguese language, and Brazilian literature. Our faculty is dynamic, professionally active, and committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching.
Teaching assistantships are available to qualified graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in Spanish. Stipends are competitive. Appointments are half-time for the academic year. University fellowships are available for outstanding students.
