- Attention to details by the faculty when explaining material.
- Facilities provided in terms of sports, relaxation and clubs.
- Opportunities for growth in several areas.
Dislikes
- Certain procedures are too complicated to understand.
- Insurance policies are appropriately determined along with them being too expensive.
- Too much politics going around the campus.
Campus Life
There are around 10-12 campuses dedicated to each department and the campus is very big. I, myself was part of many organizations. I was Treasurer for the Graduate Student Council, Vice President of the International Club, Vice President of the Graduate School Council, Advisor for the Indian Student Association, Member of the Asian, and Pacific Islander Communities, Graduate Senator for the Associated Students of New Mexico State University, and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.
Accommodation
I have rented a two-bedroom apartment 2 blocks away from campus. I have just searched for apartments for rentals near campus, which gave me a list. It is particularly difficult to rent an apartment immediately after coming to the States as there is no rental history. All the Apartments here require an additional person to co-sign the lease due to the lack. hence, I would recommend getting in contact with someone who is already there for their help while joining.

Likes
- I really like the faculties and interaction between teacher and student, the Coursework, Schedule of Classes, Grading system
- Also liked the practical approach that makes the learning more interactive than anything else.
Dislikes
- I really did not like the difficulty of some courses
- The difficulty to find an on-campus job both assistantship or hourly jobs because of the funding issues in all the department
- They used to prefer US citizens over international students because of visa rules and regulations.
Campus Life
- My college had five campuses in total: Alamogordo, Carlsbad, Grants, Dona Ana County and Las Cruces.
- All the campuses have libraries, medical services like health care center provides the basic facilities to take care of the students especially International students as their health insurance is directly connected with the university, international students office, sports facilities includes gym, football court, basketball court, badminton court.
- The university used to organize "Keep State Great" initiative to beautify the campus with projects such as cleaning and painting and used to help in organizing, coordinating, and scheduling all cultural events such as Diwali, Holi, Independence Day, Republic Day as extracurricular activities
Accommodation
- I found the accommodation through a Facebook group as I got connected with the students who were already there. They helped me to arrange everything from picking up from the airport, providing a temporary accommodation until I found permanent accommodation, connecting me with the students who were also looking for accommodation to getting settled to the apartment.
- The monthly rent was around $1000 and it does not include and other facilities.
- I did not struggle much as the seniors were really good and helpful towards new students.
- The recommendations is to connect with Facebook or any other groups of the university to seek accommodation.
- My accommodation was only 10 minutes walk from the department of electrical engineering and mostly Indian students stay in sharing apartments.

Accommodation
I lived on campus for my first year. It was fine, but I had to share a room with one other person and use a communal bathroom. There were other options, but they often fill up quickly. I chose to live in an apartment near my school for the rest of my time there.
It was affordable and had a very good chemical engineering program. I originally planned to get my masters in biomedical engineering after I finished, so this program led to that very well. I liked the people I met in Las Cruces, and the head of the department was very helpful.
