Michigan State University has had a successful program in Medical Technology education since 1926. Throughout the years, the goal of this program has been to be a leader in the advancement of the clinical sciences through the dissemination and acquisition of knowledge pertinent to the field at both a graduate and undergraduate level.
Consistent with the land grant philosophy and the mission of the College of Natural Science, the Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics Program carries on this commitment through the promotion of our graduate program. This program addresses the needs of the practitioner in terms of understanding new emerging technologies and their application to the field of clinical laboratory science. A multiple disciplinary approach to the laboratory sciences is emphasized, which encourages innovative thinking that crosses traditional boundaries.
The acquisition of a Master Degree not only offers the opportunity to expand current knowledge but also personal credentials.
The Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics Program has been designed to assist students in the development of the following competencies:
- Perform analyses on clinical samples
- Design, evaluate and implement new methods/protocols
- Recognize a problem, identify the cause, synthesize alternatives, and determine practical solutions where no preset criteria are available
- Confirm and verify results through an in-depth knowledge of scientific methods, principles and instrumentation theory
- Correlate and interpret data based on knowledge of pathophysiology
- Establish and monitor quality assurance/improvement programs
- Establish and maintain a productive and efficient work environment that promotes interpersonal relationships and a positive work attitude
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must complete a 4 years bachelor's degree from a recognized institution.
- Students who meet the above degree requirement with a strong technical background in engineering, physics, or a comparable science program are welcome to apply.
- The average cumulative high school GPA of students admitted to Stanford is 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Standardized test scores – GMAT or GRE
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
Note: A three-year bachelor’s degree in any subject is not considered sufficient for graduate study at Stanford. A two-year master’s degree following the three-year bachelor’s degree from India is required.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
