Offered jointly with the School of Community and Global Health, this distinctive track of study explores how social science knowledge, concepts, and methods—particularly in applied psychology—impact public health policy. Students earn both an MA in Applied Psychology and an MPH, giving them the necessary expertise to conduct research concerning behavioral risk factors and to evaluate behavioral interventions to improve health outcomes among diverse populations. With emphasis in both research and practice, the program explores the political, historical, economic, and social dimensions of health promotion and health services delivery. You’ll be guided by leading faculty-scholars from the social sciences and public health sectors toward this specialized degree that prepares you for a career in public health policy.

Course Curriculum

  • It was an intense program and the semester was quite hectic. I feel it was manageable given the amount of resources we had access to. There were a maximum of 2 classes that were scheduled in a day, depending on the classes you have enrolled in for each semester; every student has a different schedule.
  • The average number of students in each class would mostly be around 25 as the University focuses on a limited number of students in every batch. That helps to give individual attention. We were given options to choose from for batch timings as well. There were around 8 Indian students in the whole Masters Psychology Program and others were Seniors who were admitted early to my batch.

Fees

  • My University charges according to the number of credits of each class you enroll in during every semester. The approximate amount for each credit will be around $1500 to $2000 depending on the program you choose. For me it was approximately the same.
  • I stayed in private apartments and they were rented with a group of females and that helped me avoid additional maintenance expenses from the dorms.
