SDU B.Tech Lateral EEE FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between lateral entry and regular B.Tech admission?
Ans. Lateral entry allows diploma holders and graduates to join the B.Tech program in the 2nd year, reducing the total duration from 4 years to 3 years. Regular admission requires students to start from the 1st year. Lateral entry is specifically designed for candidates with relevant technical background.
Ques. Can I apply for lateral entry if I have a Bachelor's degree in Science?
Ans. Yes, candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Science with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects are eligible for lateral entry. However, preference is given to diploma holders in related engineering disciplines. You must meet the minimum marks requirement (50% aggregate).
Ques. Is GATE score mandatory for lateral entry admission?
Ans. While a valid GATE score strengthens your application, it is not always mandatory. The university also considers merit-based selection based on your qualifying examination marks. However, having a GATE score may improve your chances of admission and scholarship eligibility.
Ques. What is the average placement rate for B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering graduates?
Ans. The average placement rate for the past three years has been above 91%, with an average package of 6.5-7.8 LPA. The highest package offered has reached 16.5 LPA. Most graduates are placed in leading companies in the power, electronics, and IT sectors.
Ques. Are there hostel facilities available for lateral entry students?
Ans. Yes, the university provides hostel accommodation for both male and female students on a first-come, first-served basis. Hostel fees are separate from tuition fees and are approximately INR 60,000-80,000 per year depending on the type of accommodation. Priority is given to students from distant locations.
Ques. What are the career prospects after completing B.Tech Lateral Entry in Electrical and Electronics Engineering?
Ans. Graduates can pursue careers in power generation and distribution, renewable energy, electronics manufacturing, telecommunications, automation and control systems, research and development, and higher education. Many graduates also opt for higher studies like M.Tech or MBA. The field offers excellent opportunities in both public and private sectors with competitive salaries and growth prospects.
