The minimum eligibility for admission to Ph.D Industrial Biotechnology at Gujarat Biotechnology University Gandhinagar is Post Graduation.

• Candidates who have completed M.Sc./MTech or qualifications declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed or equivalent qualification.
• A relaxation of 5% marks (from 55% to 50%) or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the UGC Guidelines.

Selection Procedure:

• An entrance test will be conducted at GBU.
• The Ph.D. entrance exam-qualified candidates will be called for the interview. The qualified candidates will be selected as Ph.D. students of GBU. or
• Candidates with their fellowship (JRF) conferred by national/state government agencies, e.g. UGC/CSIR/ICAR/ICMR/ DBT/DST/ etc., will be exempted from the GBU entrance test and may directly appear for the interview. The fellowship terms and conditions of the funding agencies will be followed at GBU. However, GBU will not be responsible for the maintenance of the fellowship of such candidates after their fellowship funding is over. or
• The GBU fellows working in the national/state extramural research projects may apply for the entrance exam. GBU fellows having qualifications of national/state eligibility test without fellowship (UGC/CSIR-NET-LS/DBT/GATE/GSET/etc.) will be exempted from the GBU entrance test and may directly appear for the interview after the recommendation of the PI. However, GBU will not be responsible for the maintenance of the fellowship of such candidates after their project funding is over.

Note: GBU offers only full-time regular Ph.D. Biotechnology program. The Ph.D. entrance exam-qualified candidates will be called for the interview. The qualified candidates will be selected as Ph.D. students of GBU.
