Ques. What is the eligibility for B.Des Jewellery Design at KK Modi University?
Ans. Candidates must have passed Class XII from any recognised board in any stream with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates require 45%. No specific subject combination is mandatory at Class XII level. Admission is through the KKMU Admission Test or a portfolio review and personal interview conducted by the KKMU School of Design faculty in Bhilai. Candidates with prior experience in art, craft, or design are encouraged to present a portfolio as part of the selection process.
Ques. What does the B.Des Jewellery Design curriculum cover at KKMU?
Ans. The 4-year B.Des Jewellery Design curriculum covers jewellery design principles and history, material science including precious metals and gemstones, gemology and stone setting techniques, hand crafting and model making, surface decoration methods such as engraving and enamelling, CAD/CAM jewellery design using software tools, jewellery production and manufacturing processes, costing and pricing for the jewellery trade, portfolio development, and a final-year thesis or capstone design project. Internship placements with jewellery houses and craft studios are part of the programme.

Ques. What is the total fee for B.Des Jewellery Design at KKMU?
Ans. The total tuition fee is INR 4,15,000 for four years at INR 1,03,750 per year across 8 semesters. Merit scholarships of 100% are available for Class XII marks of 80% and above, 75% for 75-79.99%, 50% for 70-74.99%, and 25% for 60-69.99%. An additional 20% tuition discount applies for siblings of existing KKMU students, single girl child, SC/ST/OBC candidates, and defence personnel. NSP Central Sector Scholarship of INR 12,000 per year is also available for eligible students.
Ques. Does KKMU have specialised jewellery design studios or equipment?
Ans. KKMU’s School of Design has studio and workshop facilities for design programmes. The B.Des Jewellery Design programme uses dedicated craft studios with equipment for metal forming, stone setting, surface decoration, and model making. CAD/CAM tools for digital jewellery design are also part of the programme infrastructure. The School of Design follows a practice-led learning model where students spend significant hours in studio production as part of their credit requirements across all four years.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation available for B.Des Jewellery Design students at KKMU?
Ans. Yes. KKMU provides hostel facilities at its Bhilai campus for B.Des students, subject to seat availability. Hostel charges of INR 1,76,000 per year are billed separately from the tuition fee of INR 4,15,000 and are not included in the total fee stated.
