RCU Palamu Lateral Polytechnic Mechanical Engineering: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. Candidates who have completed a 2-year ITI certificate in a relevant trade (Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Welder, or similar mechanical trades) or passed Intermediate Science (I.Sc) with Physics and Mathematics are eligible. Final-year ITI students may apply provisionally.

Ans. Total fees for the two-year Diploma Lateral Entry in Mechanical Engineering are INR 96,300. Year 1 fees are INR 49,100 (including one-time charges of INR 3,000, tuition of INR 45,000, and first-semester exam fee of INR 1,100). Year 2 fees are INR 47,200.

Ans. No separate entrance exam is required. Admission to the Diploma Lateral Entry programme at RCPI is merit-based on ITI or I.Sc marks. Candidates may also participate in JCECEB polytechnic lateral entry counselling conducted by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board.

Ans. The two-year lateral entry programme covers advanced Mechanical Engineering subjects including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and machines, machine design and drawing, manufacturing technology, strength of materials, workshop practice, metrology, refrigeration and air conditioning, and industrial management.

Ans. Graduates can work as junior engineers, supervisors, or technicians in manufacturing plants, automobile workshops, power plants, and heavy engineering industries. Companies like Tata Motors, BHEL, Jindal Steel, and Subros recruit Mechanical Diploma holders. Many graduates also pursue B.Tech Lateral Entry for degree-level qualification.

Ans. Yes. Holders of a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent recognised diploma) are eligible for B.Tech Lateral Entry. At RCU itself, B.Tech Lateral Entry (Mechanical Engineering) is offered at RCIT with admission through merit on diploma marks and JCECEB lateral counselling.
