I am new in Metallurgy but from my point of view course curriculum is well distributed and a lot of labratory classes are there. Student capacity is 30 but we are only 17 now so student faculty ratio is good. All faculties are very helpful and knowledgeable and have minimum M-tech degree and most of them have PhD degrees. Some have industry experience. Like other colleges here also two sem are in each year and it is quite tough to score above 80%.
I have already completed a Diploma in Metallurgy so I have to choose this stream this is normal but Metallurgy has a demanding stream because very few colleges or universities provide this course. In KNU the faculties are highly qualified all have Ph.D. Some faculties have industry experience also and provide the knowledge at the time of class. The quality of teaching is good, labs are well equipped.
In KNU they have their syllabus because it is an autonomous university and till today when I am writing the review I think the curriculum is quite descriptive and lab oriented which is necessary. Faculties are good and highly qualified all are PhD holders and some are also working on research work. Some faculties specially HOD, Director, TPO have industrial experience of more than 15 years. The semester question is tough to pass.
Metallurgy has better scope in the R&D section and Jobs are comparatively higher paying than mechanical engineering jobs in India. As I am a Diploma holder I have to choose this and I do that. Faculties are great except one, all faculties are Ph.D. holders and some have industrial experience especially our HOD Dr. Projjal Basu is awesome. The department has the capacity of 30 students but as B-Tech here is new so in our class, only 17 students are there and no of faculties is 7 so the ratio is also good. two sem are there every year and they are quite tough to pass.
I chose metallurgical engineering because I have already completed a Diploma in it. The course curriculum is very descriptive type, a lot of subjects are there and all are important subjects. As class strength is only about 17 so student Faculty ratio is good. Every faculty is having a Ph.D. Degree and industrial experience. Semesters are tough so learn very attentively.
KNU has a great Lab facility on its campus for Metallurgical and Mining Engineering students. The course curriculum is very similar to trending technology in metallurgy. The Faculties are highly qualified minimum qualification is Ph.D. but they are very helpful to students and teaches us in an easy manner with audiovisual also. The Student-Teacher ratio is 6:17 so it is very good. Every year we have two semesters, internals, practical exams.
Our course curriculum is pretty thorough and informative. The labs are very good which we need to understand when we are in real working life so it is a mandatory requirement. We get to learn about many things, especially I want mention iron and steel making, Corrosion resistance, Fracture analysis, Heat treatment these subjects I liked most. The student-teacher ratio is good. All faculties are highly qualified to have minimum M-Tech and PhD common, and also they have industry experience.
I have choosen the stream because i have a Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering so i dont want to change my stream and other than that this stream has more job opportunities than other core engineering streams. The student and faculty ratio is good because low intake capacity only 30 seats are available but only 17 students are in our class. PhD is common for all faculties and some of them have really great industry experience like our HOD and TPO, Director and they share their knowledge and experience while teaching a topic. Two semesters are there every year and internal assignment submission practice exams are there like other college pr universities. The level of question is high enough so the exam is tough.
I have chosen this course because it is not a mother trade and students enrolled every year is very less so 1st of all the chance to get a job is high another thing is that I want to work in Iron & Steel industry so this stream would help to achieve my goal in my career. The student-faculty ratio is good. All faculties are minimum education of M.Tech some of them hold Ph.D. and have a lot of thesis papers on their respective field. And most importantly the HOD and Director, TPO all has huge Industry experience and connections. They all are very helpful and teach us in a very practical manner.
I have chosen this stream. After all, I think in this stream you have more options to study and research work and a better job also than mechanical engineering because I have already completed a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and I have 1 year 8 months work experience from that point of view I am writing this. Student Faculty Ratio is good because the intake capacity is only 30 students. Most of the faculty have research work experience and obviously, they are very much highly qualified and their behaviour is also good and helpful.
