FAQs on St Aloysius BA Social Work

Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.

Should I take BA Social Work at St Aloysius if I want field work?▾
Yes, if you want a field-work route and are ready for community visits. The course has 6 Social Work pairings, so your second subject also matters. Pick the pairing that matches your job aim, then ask the department how field work is placed across the three years.
Is BA Social Work at St Aloysius worth the fee?▾
Yes, if the fee is your main worry. The full course fee without hostel is INR 92,200, which keeps the money risk low. Add hostel only if you need it, because the hostel and mess cost adds INR 2.55 Lakhs across three years.
What job path can this course lead to?▾
It can lead to social-sector work, HR support, research support or further study in social work. The placement page names Research Associate and HR Associate among roles, but it does not publish BA Social Work average pay. Ask for course-wise alumni details before you choose.
Who should skip this course at St Aloysius?▾
Skip it if you need a clear salary number before admission. The college gives a company list and placement months, but not a BA Social Work average pay. If pay proof is central for you, ask the placement office for course-wise records before paying.
Should I choose this course if average pay is not published?▾
Choose it only if the course goal matters more than the missing pay number. The fee is INR 92,200 without hostel, so the cost is low, but you still need job clarity. Ask the department about internships, field work partners and alumni before the fee date.
Is hostel worth adding for this course?▾
It depends on where you live. Hostel and mess add INR 2.55 Lakhs over three years, while the course fee is INR 92,200 without hostel. If daily travel is hard, ask for hostel availability early, because room allotment is separate from course admission.
Is St Aloysius right if I want Psychology with Social Work?▾
It can fit you because the brochure lists Social Work with Psychology as one of the BA options. That pairing suits students who want people-facing work, counselling-linked study or higher study later. Confirm the exact subject combination on the admission form before you submit it.
Should I wait for another admission cycle?▾
Wait only if you need a course or salary detail the college cannot confirm. The 2027 dates are still estimates, and the process is expected to start with the form in Jan 2027. If this course pairing is available and the fee fits, waiting may not add much.
How do I get admission to BA Social Work?▾
You apply on the UG portal, add school marks, take SAU-ET and attend the interview. The test has 50 MCQs and the offer comes after the interaction. Keep your documents ready, because fee payment comes soon after selection.
What is the full course fee without hostel?▾
The full course fee used on this page is INR 92,200 for three years without hostel. It is not one year. If you take hostel and mess, the total shown in the fee block rises to INR 3.47 Lakhs.
Can I pay in parts or get support?▾
Yes, the college scholarship page says students get a chance to pay fees in parts, and it lists 56 endowment scholarships and 20 special scholarships. Use the calculator above for an estimate. Then confirm the papers and final amount with the scholarship office.
What should I check before paying the fee?▾
Check your subject pairing, hostel need and fee group first. The BA page has 6 Social Work pairings, and non-Karnataka or NRI fee rows can differ. Pay only after the admission office confirms your offer and the exact fee that applies to you.
