Admission to RGUKT Basar University is determined by the S.S.C. exam merit list, requiring a GPA above 9.5 or 9.7 for government school students and a perfect 10 for private school students, with caste reservations applicable. The faculty, many with IIT backgrounds, are knowledgeable and helpful despite a low faculty-to-student ratio. The university offers a 6-year integrated B.Tech program with no tuition fees for most students, funded by the government.

Management seat holders and students with government employee parents pay reduced fees of 36,000 INR for the first two years and 40,000 INR thereafter. Scholarships between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 35,000 are provided annually, with eligible students receiving Rs. 36,000 through the Epass scholarship. SC and BC candidates pay around Rs. 5,000 per year. Approximately 50-60% of students are placed annually, primarily in service-based companies, with better prospects for branches like CSE, ECE, and Civil. Campus recruitment by companies such as Infosys, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro begins in the final year, offering 15-25 placements each. This year, 200-300 students were placed, with salary packages ranging from an average of 3.5 LPA to a high of 10 LPA. While the university does not offer internships, students pursue them externally.

During the pandemic, online internships were available, though offline opportunities were limited.
