Ques. What is the minimum qualification required for Ph.D. in Arts admission at Noble University?
Ans. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA of 5.5/10). For SC/ST/OBC/EWS and differently-abled categories, a 5% relaxation is provided, making the minimum 50% marks. Additionally, candidates should have a valid research proposal and a consent letter from a proposed Ph.D. supervisor. UGC-NET qualification is preferred but not mandatory for admission.
Ques. Is UGC-NET qualification mandatory for Ph.D. in Arts at Noble University?
Ans. While UGC-NET qualification is not strictly mandatory, it significantly strengthens your application and makes you eligible for UGC-NET JRF fellowship (31,000 per month). Candidates without UGC-NET can still apply and appear for the university's entrance examination followed by an interview. However, UGC-NET qualified candidates have a higher chance of selection and access to better financial support through JRF.
Ques. What is the duration of Ph.D. in Arts and what is the course structure?
Ans. Ph.D. in Arts is a 3-year full-time program. The first semester involves mandatory coursework including Research Methodology (minimum 4 credits) and domain-specific courses (8-12 credits total). After successful completion of coursework with minimum 55% marks, students proceed to full-time research from the second semester onwards. Students must present their research progress before the Research Advisory Committee (RAC) every six months and are required to publish at least one research paper in a UGC-CARE journal before thesis submission.
Ques. What are the publication requirements before submitting the Ph.D. thesis?
Ans. Before thesis submission, Ph.D. scholars must fulfill one of the following criteria: (1) Publish one research paper in a UGC-CARE-listed journal and present two papers in conferences/seminars, (2) Publish two research papers with at least one in a UGC-CARE Group-II (WOS/SCOPUS) journal, or (3) Publish one paper in Group-II and one full paper in a Scopus-indexed conference proceeding. All publications must be directly related to the scholar's research work, and evidence must be provided at the time of thesis submission.
Ques. How is the Ph.D. program monitored and what happens if a student fails to make progress?
Ans. The Research Advisory Committee (RAC) monitors each Ph.D. scholar's progress through mandatory presentations every six months. The RAC evaluates the research progress, provides feedback, and may suggest corrections or improvements. Failure to submit progress reports or attend RAC reviews may result in warnings or cancellation of registration. The RAC also oversees major changes such as research topic modifications, supervisor changes, or research plan alterations to ensure scholars remain on track for timely completion within the 3-year period.
Ques. What is the total cost of Ph.D. in Arts and are there any hidden charges?
Ans. The total cost for the 3-year Ph.D. program is ₹2,10,000 INR, which includes annual fees (₹80,000 per year), registration fee (₹5,000 one-time), coursework exam (₹2,000), research seminars (₹1,000 per semester from 2nd semester), and thesis evaluation (₹15,000).
