Ans. SUAS offers Ph.D. in Management with specializations in Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) and Retail Management. The research areas cover topics such as financial services innovation, retail operations, consumer behavior in banking and retail, digital transformation in financial services, supply chain management in retail, and sustainable retail practices. Ques. What is the fellowship and financial support available for Ph.D. scholars at SUAS?
Ans. SUAS provides institute fellowship up to ₹37,000 per month for 20% of admitted scholars. Additionally, the university accepts external fellowships including UGC-JRF, UGC-NFOBC, UGC-NFSC, UGC-NFST and equivalents. Scholars with UGC-NET JRF or CSIR-NET JRF qualifications can avail government fellowships. The total program fees is ₹3,60,000 for 3 years, which is reasonable considering the research facilities and faculty guidance provided. Female Ph.D. scholars and Persons with Disabilities are eligible for additional relaxation in program duration (up to 2 additional years), which can help manage financial burden over extended period. The program is structured as follows: Semester I and II (first year) focus on mandatory coursework and comprehensive examination; Year 2-3 focus on thesis research, proposal development, and thesis writing. Female Ph.D. scholars and Persons with Disabilities (having more than 40% disability) may be allowed an additional relaxation of 2 years, making the maximum duration 8 years. The program is designed to be completed within 3 years under normal circumstances, but extensions are available for scholars facing genuine difficulties. Scholars must complete all coursework within 2 years maximum; failure to do so results in automatic cancellation of PhD registration.

Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF), UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF), SLET, GATE, CEED, or hold teacher fellowships (KSET, SET, etc.) are eligible for direct admission to the Ph.D. program. These candidates bypass the entrance examination and are directly called for personal interview. The selection for these candidates is based on their academic achievements, prior research experience, research proposal quality, and interview performance. This provision recognizes the rigor of national-level entrance examinations and provides a faster admission pathway for qualified candidates.
