Ques. What is the difference between the Post Graduate Diploma in Indian Culinary Arts at JLU and a regular hotel management degree? Who should choose this programme?

Ans. The Post Graduate Diploma in Indian Culinary Arts (PGDIC) at JLU is a specialised 1.5-year programme focused specifically on Indian culinary arts and food production, unlike a full hotel management degree which covers a broader range of hospitality subjects. This programme is ideal for graduates who already have a bachelor's degree and want to specialise in culinary arts without committing to a 3-year degree programme. It is also suitable for working professionals in the food industry who want to upgrade their skills. The programme is more affordable (Rs. 1,15,000 total) compared to full hotel management degrees and provides faster entry into the culinary profession.

Ques. What kind of kitchen facilities and equipment are available for culinary arts students at JLU?

Ans. JLU's Jagran School of Hospitality and Tourism has dedicated kitchen labs equipped with professional-grade cooking equipment, including commercial ovens, induction cooktops, food processors, and plating stations. The facilities are designed to simulate a professional kitchen environment, giving students hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment. The campus also has a training restaurant where students can practice food service and presentation. Students on review platforms have noted that the practical training facilities at JLU's hospitality school are well-maintained and regularly updated.

Ques. What is the total cost of the PGDIC programme at JLU, and is it worth the investment?

This is one of the most affordable culinary arts programmes at a private university in Central India. Hostel accommodation is optional and costs an additional Rs. 1,34,620 to Rs. 2,22,620 per year. Given the growing demand for skilled culinary professionals in India's hospitality sector, the programme offers good value for money.

Ans. Graduates of the Post Graduate Diploma in Indian Culinary Arts from JLU can pursue careers as chefs, sous chefs, food production managers, catering managers, culinary instructors, food consultants, and culinary entrepreneurs.
