SGT B.Sc Neurophysiology FAQs
Ques. Is there any entrance exam required for admission to B.Sc. Neurophysiology Technology at SGT University?
Ans. No mandatory national entrance exam is required for this course. Admission is primarily merit-based on Class 12 (PCB) marks. However, SGT University does consider CUET-UG scores as part of the merit evaluation for scholarship purposes. Candidates are shortlisted for a Personal Interview (PI) after the initial application review, and the final selection is based on academic performance and the PI outcome. Students with strong Class 12 scores in PCB have a good chance of securing admission and scholarships simultaneously.
Ques. What is the difference between the 3-year B.Sc. and the 4-year B.Sc. Honours with Research programme?
Ans. The 3-year B.Sc. Neurophysiology Technology covers the standard curriculum over 6 semesters and leads to a Bachelor of Science degree. The 4-year B.Sc. Honours with Research programme spans 8 semesters and includes an additional research component in the final year, where students undertake a supervised research project. The 4-year programme is better suited for students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies or a research career in neurosciences. The fees for the 4-year programme are slightly higher (total academic fee approximately INR 4.13 Lakhs vs. approximately INR 3.87 Lakhs for the 3-year programme).
Ques. What kind of clinical exposure do students get during the programme?
Ans. SGT University has a 700+ bed multispecialty teaching hospital (SGT Hospital) located on campus, which provides direct clinical training to students. B.Sc. Neurophysiology Technology students get hands-on exposure to neurodiagnostic procedures such as EEG (Electroencephalography), EMG (Electromyography), Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), Evoked Potentials (EP), and Polysomnography (PSG). This on-campus hospital setup is a significant advantage as students do not need to travel to external hospitals for their clinical rotations, and they get regular patient interaction from the early semesters itself.
Ques. What are the career opportunities after completing B.Sc. Neurophysiology Technology from SGT University?
Ans. Graduates can work as Neurophysiology Technologists, EEG Technologists, Nerve Conduction Study Technicians, Sleep Technologists, or Polysomnography Technologists in hospitals, neuroscience centres, and diagnostic labs. There are also opportunities in pharmaceutical companies, research laboratories, and rehabilitation centres. Top recruiters for allied health graduates from SGT University include Fortis Hospital, Max Healthcare, Apollo Hospitals, and HCL. Students can also pursue M.Sc. in Neurosciences and Neurotechnology (offered at SGT University itself) for advanced career prospects.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation available, and what are the charges?
Ans. Yes, SGT University provides separate on-campus hostel facilities for boys and girls. The hostel is optional and not mandatory for this course. The annual hostel fee is INR 1,00,000 for non-AC rooms and INR 1,50,000 for AC rooms. These charges do not include mess/dining expenses, which are billed separately. The hostels are equipped with Wi-Fi, study areas, recreation rooms, and round-the-clock security. Ques. Can I get a scholarship if I scored between 70% and 80% in Class 12?
Ans. Yes. Students who have scored between 70% and 79.99% in Class 12 are eligible for a 25% tuition fee waiver under SGT University's merit-based scholarship scheme. Additionally, female students in Allied Health Sciences programmes receive an extra 5% scholarship over and above the merit scholarship. For subsequent years, students who pass all subjects in the first attempt and maintain a 75%+ aggregate are eligible for a 25% performance-based scholarship on tuition fees.
