SGT BCA FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between BCA (Cyber Security) and BCA (General/Core) at SGT University, and which one should I choose?
Ans. BCA (Cyber Security) is a specialised track that focuses on cybersecurity-specific subjects such as ethical hacking, network security, cryptography, digital forensics, and information security management, in addition to the core BCA curriculum. BCA (General/Core) covers a broader range of computer applications topics without a specific security focus. If you are interested in a career in cybersecurity, information security, ethical hacking, or digital forensics, the Cyber Security specialisation is the better choice. If you want more flexibility across software development, data science, or general IT, the core BCA or other specialisations like AI and ML or Cloud Computing may be more suitable. Both programmes have the same fee structure of Rs. 2,00,000 per annum.
Ques. Is CUET mandatory for BCA (Cyber Security) admission at SGT University?
Ans. CUET UG is not mandatory for BCA (Cyber Security) admission at SGT University. The university offers direct merit-based admission based on 10+2 marks with a minimum of 45% aggregate (English mandatory). However, CUET UG scores are accepted and students with good CUET percentiles (75 and above) are eligible for merit-based scholarships of 25% to 100% on tuition fees. The CUET UG 2026 exam is scheduled from May 11 to May 31, 2026, with results expected by July 4, 2026. Students who have appeared in CUET are encouraged to apply with their scores to potentially avail scholarship benefits.

Ques. Can a student who has studied Commerce or Arts in 10+2 (without Mathematics) apply for BCA (Cyber Security) at SGT University?
Ans. Yes, students from Commerce or Arts backgrounds can apply for BCA (Cyber Security) at SGT University. The eligibility criterion requires 10+2 from a recognized board with English as a mandatory subject and a minimum of 45% aggregate marks. Unlike B.Tech programmes, BCA does not require Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects. This makes BCA (Cyber Security) accessible to students from all streams (Science, Commerce, Arts) who have a strong interest in computers and technology. However, students from non-Science backgrounds are advised to strengthen their basic programming and mathematics skills before joining, as the programme involves quantitative and technical coursework.
