Ques. What subjects does the B.Sc Biotechnology curriculum cover at SVSU?
Ans. The B.Sc Biotechnology programme at SVSU covers a broad set of life sciences and applied biology topics including cell biology, molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetic engineering, plant and animal biotechnology, bioinformatics, and bioprocess engineering. The course includes both theory and laboratory practical sessions across all six semesters, with the practical component covering techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, and fermentation technology.
Ques. What is the total fee for B.Sc Biotechnology at SVSU and are there scholarships?
Ans. The total programme fee for the 3-year B.Sc Biotechnology at SVSU is INR 1,35,300 as per the official 2026-27 fee structure. This includes INR 41,000 per year across three years, a one-time admission fee of INR 9,300, and a refundable caution money of INR 3,000. Ques. Can Agriculture stream students from 10+2 apply for B.Sc Biotechnology at SVSU?
Ans. Yes. SVSU accepts 10+2 with Agriculture as a valid qualifying stream for B.Sc Biotechnology, in addition to PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics). The minimum eligibility is 45% aggregate in the qualifying stream. This makes the programme accessible to a wider pool of science and agriculture students, including those who studied Crop Science, Horticulture, or Animal Husbandry in 10+2.
Ques. What career options are available after B.Sc Biotechnology from SVSU?
Ans. B.Sc Biotechnology graduates from SVSU typically pursue M.Sc Biotechnology, M.Sc Microbiology, or M.Sc Biochemistry at universities across India. Entry-level roles are available in pharmaceutical companies, diagnostic labs, biotech startups, food processing companies, and agricultural biotech firms. Government sector options include scientist and research assistant positions at ICMR, DBT-funded institutes, CSIR labs, and state agriculture departments. GATE Biotechnology is the route for M.Tech or research fellowships at IITs and NITs.
Ques. Is CUET-UG required for B.Sc Biotechnology admission at SVSU?
Ans. No, CUET-UG is not mandatory. SVSU offers admission through its own SNET entrance test and also accepts CUET-UG scores for merit-based admission. Candidates who have neither CUET-UG nor SNET scores may apply through direct merit based on their 10+2 board percentage, subject to seat availability. CUET-UG qualifiers who meet the university’s cutoff may also receive fee concessions under the CUET qualifier scholarship scheme.
