The 4th semester is entirely dedicated to clinical internship (6 months), during which students gain hands-on experience in advanced clinical retina, glaucoma, paediatric optometry, binocular vision therapy, contact lens practice, and low vision rehabilitation. A logbook signed by the supervisor is mandatory for all clinical sessions.
Ques. What is the dissertation requirement for M.Optom at CSJMU?
Ans. Every M.Optom student at CSJMU is required to carry out a research project under the guidance of a recognised postgraduate teacher and submit a dissertation. The student must submit a synopsis to the university within 6 months of course commencement. The dissertation topic is registered with the university after review of the synopsis. The written dissertation must be between 50 and 120 pages (excluding references and annexures), typed in double line spacing on A4 bond paper. Four copies of the dissertation along with a soft copy (CD) must be submitted 2 months before the final examination. The dissertation is evaluated by two examiners (one internal, one external), and the student must give a PowerPoint presentation. Students who publish a research paper on their dissertation topic are awarded 5 additional credits.
