CSJMU B.Tech (Lateral) ME FAQs
Ques. Can a diploma holder from outside Uttar Pradesh apply for B.Tech Lateral Entry at CSJMU UIET?
Ans. Yes, diploma holders from institutions outside Uttar Pradesh can apply for B.Tech Lateral Entry at CSJMU UIET. However, the eligibility requires that the diploma be from an institution recognized by UPBTE or an equivalent recognized board. Candidates from other states are treated as General category for reservation purposes, meaning they will not get the benefit of OBC/SC/ST reservation which is applicable only to UP domicile holders. The admission is merit-based, so out-of-state candidates compete in the open/general category.
Ques. Is JEE Main required for B.Tech Lateral Entry admission at CSJMU?
Ans. No, JEE Main is not required for B.Tech Lateral Entry at CSJMU. The lateral entry programme follows a direct merit-based admission process through the CSJMU Admission Portal. Admission is based on the marks obtained in the qualifying 3-year diploma or B.Sc. examination. This is a significant advantage for diploma holders who may not have appeared for JEE Main.
Ques. Into which year/semester does a lateral entry student get admitted at CSJMU UIET?
Ans. Lateral entry students are admitted directly into the 2nd year, i.e., the 3rd semester of the B.Tech programme. This means the total duration of the programme for lateral entry students is 3 years (6 semesters) instead of the regular 4 years (8 semesters). Students join the same batch as regular B.Tech students from the 3rd semester onwards and follow the same curriculum.
Ques. How many seats are available for B.Tech Lateral Entry in Mechanical Engineering at CSJMU UIET?
Ans. As per AICTE norms, lateral entry seats are supernumerary seats over the sanctioned intake. For Mechanical Engineering at UIET CSJMU, the sanctioned intake is 90 seats. AICTE allows up to 10% supernumerary lateral entry seats, which means approximately 9 lateral entry seats are available. The exact number of seats for each session is notified by the university at the time of admission. Seats are limited, so early application is advisable.
Ques. What documents are required at the time of admission for B.Tech Lateral Entry at CSJMU?
Ans. At the time of document verification and admission, candidates typically need to submit: (1) Original diploma/B.Sc. marksheets and passing certificate, (2) 10th and 12th marksheets, (3) Transfer Certificate (TC) from the last institution attended, (4) Character Certificate, (5) Domicile/Residence Certificate (for UP candidates), (6) Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS, if applicable), (7) Aadhaar Card, (8) Passport-size photographs, and (9) Migration Certificate (if from another university/board). Ques. Can lateral entry students at CSJMU UIET avail the UP Post Matric Scholarship?
Ans. Yes, lateral entry B.Tech students at CSJMU UIET are eligible for the UP Post Matric Scholarship, provided they meet the eligibility criteria: UP domicile, family income within the prescribed limit, and belonging to an eligible category (SC/ST/OBC/General-EWS).
