CSJMU B.Tech AI FAQs
Ques. Is B.Tech AI at CSJMU the same as B.Tech CSE, or is it a separate programme with a different curriculum?
Ans. B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence) at CSJMU is a distinct programme from the regular B.Tech CSE, though both are offered under the same department at UIET. The AI specialisation has a curriculum specifically designed around machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and AI-driven applications, in addition to core CS subjects. The regular B.Tech CSE covers a broader CS curriculum without this focused AI track. Both are 4-year AICTE-approved programmes with the same annual fee of Rs. 1,15,200, but the AI branch has a smaller intake of 60 seats compared to 150 seats in CSE, making it slightly more competitive in terms of JEE rank requirements.
Ques. What JEE Main rank is typically required to get admission into B.Tech AI at CSJMU?
Ans. Based on the 2025-26 counselling cutoff data published by CSJMU, the B.Tech CSE (AI) branch at UIET generally requires a JEE Main rank in the range of approximately 1,00,000 to 3,00,000 (All India Rank) for the general category, though this varies by round and category. OBC and SC/ST candidates can get admission at higher rank numbers due to reservation. Since the AI branch has only 60 seats, it tends to close at a slightly better rank than some other branches. Students are advised to check the official B.Tech Counselling Cutoff document for Session 2025-26 published on the CSJMU website for precise category-wise cutoffs.
Ques. Does CSJMU UIET provide campus placements for B.Tech AI students? What companies visit?
Ans. UIET CSJMU does have a Training and Placement Cell (placement.csjmu.ac.in) that facilitates campus recruitment drives. Companies that have recruited from UIET in recent years include mid-sized IT services firms, product startups, and some national companies. The 2024-25 placement data from the university brochure mentions 84+ campus drives and 419+ selections across all programmes, with a median package of 12.5 LPA for the best performers. However, students and alumni consistently note that campus placement percentage is not very high and that a significant portion of students secure jobs through off-campus efforts, competitive exams (GATE, CAT), or self-preparation. For AI-specific roles, students who build strong portfolios in ML/DL projects and participate in coding competitions tend to fare better.
Ques. Can I apply for hostel accommodation at CSJMU after getting B.Tech AI admission? Is it guaranteed?
Ans. Hostel accommodation at CSJMU is not guaranteed and is subject to availability. The university has six on-campus hostels with a total capacity of 1,114 seats - two boys' hostels (Shivaji: 400 seats, Swarn Jayanti: 200 seats) and four girls' hostels. Students need to apply separately for hostel allotment through the Samarth portal (csjmu.samarth.edu.in) after securing admission. Room allotment is done by the wardens. The annual hostel fee for 2025-26 ranges from Rs. 20,620 (Ganga Girls EWS) to Rs. 36,370 (Swarn Jayanti Boys), which includes room rent, health insurance, and management fee. Mess charges are additional and paid separately to the mess contractor.
Ques. Is the B.Tech AI degree from CSJMU recognised for government jobs and higher studies (GATE/MS abroad)?
Ans. Yes, the B.Tech (CSE - Artificial Intelligence) degree from CSJMU is fully recognised. CSJMU is a UGC-recognised, NAAC A++ graded, Category-I state university, and the B.Tech programme is AICTE-approved. The degree is valid for all government job applications (PSUs, UPSC technical services, etc.) and for appearing in GATE. Many UIET alumni have successfully cleared GATE and pursued M.Tech at IITs/NITs or gone for MS programmes abroad. For higher studies abroad, the degree is generally accepted by foreign universities, though students may need to provide transcripts and other documentation as per the specific university's requirements.
Ques. What is the difference between CSJMU's own B.Tech counselling and UPSAC/AKTU counselling? Which one applies for UIET?
Ans. UIET CSJMU conducts its own independent B.Tech counselling process through its dedicated portal (applications.csjmu.ac.in/btech2026), separate from the UPSAC (Uttar Pradesh State Admission Counselling) process used for AKTU-affiliated colleges. Students who want admission to UIET CSJMU must register specifically on the CSJMU B.Tech portal and participate in CSJMU's three-round counselling. Registering for UPSAC/AKTU counselling does not give you a seat at UIET CSJMU. Both processes use JEE Main rank as the basis for admission, but they are entirely separate systems with different schedules, portals, and seat matrices.
