SRIHER BASLP FAQs
Ques. Is NEET score required for BASLP admission at SRIHER?
Ans. No, NEET score is not considered for BASLP admission at SRIHER. Admission is based entirely on the SRIHER Undergraduate Entrance Examination (Group-A). Candidates must appear in this university-conducted exam to be eligible for a merit rank and seat allotment.
Ques. What is the difference between BASLP and B.Sc. (Speech and Hearing)? Are they equivalent?
Ans. BASLP (Bachelor in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology) and B.Sc. (Speech and Hearing) are essentially equivalent programs recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). Both qualify graduates to register as Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists. SRIHER's BASLP follows the RCI-prescribed curriculum and is fully recognized for clinical practice in India.
Ques. Can BASLP graduates from SRIHER work abroad?
Ans. Yes, SRIHER BASLP graduates have secured placements in the USA (Ascend Rehab Services, BMR Health Services, EdTheory LLC). However, working abroad typically requires additional licensure in the destination country (e.g., ASHA certification in the USA, HCPC registration in the UK). SRIHER's internationally aligned curriculum and MoUs with foreign institutions help students prepare for such pathways.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation guaranteed for BASLP students at SRIHER?
Ans. Hostel accommodation is available on campus for both male and female students, but it is not guaranteed and is subject to availability. Students are advised to apply for hostel at the time of admission itself to secure a room of their choice. Mess facility is compulsory if hostel is availed, and mess charges are paid separately.
Ques. What career options are available after completing BASLP from SRIHER?
Ans. After completing BASLP, graduates can work as clinical audiologists, speech-language pathologists, hearing aid dispensers, or rehabilitation specialists in hospitals, clinics, special schools, and NGOs. They can also pursue M.Sc. in Audiology or Speech-Language Pathology for specialization, or work in research and academia. SRIHER itself offers M.Sc. (Audiology) and M.Sc. (Speech-Language Pathology) programs for further study.
Ques. How competitive is the SRIHER BASLP entrance exam, and what is the expected cutoff?
Ans. The SRIHER entrance exam for BASLP (Group-A) consists of 180 MCQs from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at the 10+2 level, with no negative marking. With only 40 seats available, competition is moderate to high. Based on student reviews, a score in the top 300 ranks in the entrance exam is generally considered competitive. The cutoff varies each year depending on the number of applicants and overall performance.
