SIMATS B.Sc Aviation FAQs
Ques. Is B.Sc Aviation at SIMATS a pilot training course? Will I get a pilot licence after completing this course?
Ans. No, B.Sc Aviation at SIMATS is NOT a pilot training programme. It is an academic degree that covers aviation science, airport operations, airline management, and ground handling. To become a commercial pilot, you need to separately pursue a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) from a DGCA-approved flying school, which involves actual flight training hours. The B.Sc Aviation degree prepares you for non-flying roles in the aviation industry such as ground staff, airport operations, flight dispatcher, and airline management.
Ques. What is the scope of B.Sc Aviation after graduation? What kind of jobs can I get?
Ans. After completing B.Sc Aviation, graduates can work in roles such as Ground Handling Officer (Rs. 2.5-4.5 LPA), Airport Operations Executive (Rs. 3-5 LPA), Airline Customer Service Agent (Rs. 2.5-4 LPA), Flight Dispatcher (Rs. 3-6 LPA), Aviation Safety Officer, and Cargo Operations Executive. Airlines like IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, and airport operators like AAI and GMR Group are major recruiters. Students can also pursue M.Sc Aviation Management or MBA in Aviation for higher roles.
Ques. Does SIMATS provide campus placements specifically for B.Sc Aviation students?
Ans. SIMATS has a dedicated placement cell that organises campus drives and job fairs. However, course-specific placement data for B.Sc Aviation is not separately published. The placement cell connects students with aviation companies, airlines, and airport operators. Students are advised to actively participate in internships during the course to improve placement prospects, as the aviation industry heavily values practical experience.
Ques. What is the difference between B.Sc Aviation and B.Sc Aviation, Hospitality and Travel Tourism offered at SIMATS?
Ans. SIMATS offers both B.Sc Aviation (focused on aviation science, airport operations, and airline management) and B.Sc Aviation, Hospitality and Travel Tourism (a broader programme combining aviation with hospitality and tourism management). The B.Sc Aviation is more focused on the technical and operational aspects of the aviation industry, while the combined programme is suited for students interested in a career spanning aviation, hotels, and travel agencies. The fees for B.Sc Aviation are Rs. 3 Lakhs, while B.Sc Aviation, Hospitality and Travel Tourism is Rs. 2.7 Lakhs for the full course.
Ques. Is the B.Sc Aviation degree from SIMATS (a Deemed University) recognised and valued by aviation employers?
Ans. Yes, SIMATS is a UGC-recognised Deemed University with complete academic autonomy, ranked 13th among universities in India by NIRF 2025. The degree is valid and recognised. However, students should note that for certain aviation roles (especially with government agencies like AAI), a degree from a recognised university is required, and SIMATS qualifies. That said, practical skills, internships, and additional certifications (such as IATA courses) can significantly enhance employability in the aviation sector.
Ques. Can I pursue further studies after B.Sc Aviation from SIMATS? What are the options?
Ans. Yes, after completing B.Sc Aviation, students can pursue postgraduate programmes such as MBA in Aviation Management, M.Sc in Aviation, or MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Some students also opt for IATA (International Air Transport Association) diploma courses or pursue a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) separately. SIMATS itself offers M.Sc programmes in various disciplines, and students can also apply to other universities for aviation-specific PG programmes.
