PU M.Des FAQs
Ques. Does Poornima University require CEED or any national design entrance exam score for M.Des (Product Design) admission?
Ans. No, Poornima University does not mandate CEED, NID DAT, or any other national design entrance exam for admission to the M.Des (Product Design) programme. The selection process is based on the candidate's graduation percentage, a portfolio assessment, and a personal interview conducted by the university's Faculty of Design and Arts. This makes it accessible to candidates who may not have appeared for CEED or similar exams, though having a strong portfolio remains critical for selection.
Ques. What kind of portfolio is expected during the M.Des admission process at Poornima University?
Ans. The portfolio should ideally showcase the candidate's design thinking, creativity, and problem-solving ability. It can include sketches, product concepts, industrial design projects, CAD models, photography, graphic work, or any design-related work done during graduation or independently. There is no strict format prescribed by the university, but the portfolio should reflect the candidate's passion for product design and their ability to communicate ideas visually. Candidates are advised to bring both physical and digital copies of their work for the interview.
Ques. Is the M.Des (Product Design) programme at Poornima University recognised and what is the scope after completing it?
Ans. Yes, Poornima University is a UGC-recognised state private university established under the Rajasthan State Legislature. The M.Des degree awarded is valid for employment and higher studies. After completing the programme, graduates can work as Product Designers, Industrial Designers, UX/UI Designers, Design Researchers, Automotive Designers, or pursue entrepreneurship in the design space. The university's industry connections and 350+ recruiters network also provide placement support for design graduates.
Ques. Can I get a scholarship on the M.Des (Product Design) fee at Poornima University, and how much can I save?
Ans. Yes, scholarships are available based on graduation percentage under the Shanti Education Society (SES) Scholarship. If you scored 85% or above in graduation, you can get up to 40% off on the tuition fee (Rs. 67,500 per year), saving up to Rs. 27,000 per year. Additionally, an early bird scholarship of up to 50% was available for admissions taken before March 31, 2026. Defence personnel wards, NCC 'C' certificate holders, and alumni siblings are also eligible for additional scholarships. Note that scholarships apply only to tuition fees and not to development or administrative fees.
Ques. What is the difference between the Standard Fee Model and the Flat Fee Model for M.Des at Poornima University?
Ans. Under the Standard Fee Model, the annual fee is Rs. 1,07,500 (Development Fee + Tuition Fee + Administrative Fee), and students are eligible for merit-based scholarships on the tuition fee component. Under the Flat Fee Model, the annual fee is Rs. 85,000 (total Rs. 1,70,000 for 2 years), which is lower in absolute terms, but no scholarships are applicable under this model. Students who qualify for a high scholarship percentage (e.g., 40% on tuition fee) may find the Standard Fee Model more economical overall. Once a fee model is opted, it cannot be changed for the remaining duration of the programme.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation available for M.Des students at Poornima University, and what are the approximate costs?
Ans. Yes, hostel accommodation is available on campus for both boys and girls, though it is optional and not mandatory for M.Des students. The annual hostel fee ranges from approximately Rs. 1,05,000 to Rs. 1,45,000 for non-AC rooms and Rs. 1,25,000 to Rs. 1,80,000 for AC rooms, inclusive of meals. A refundable security deposit of Rs. 10,000 is also payable at the time of hostel allotment. The hostels are equipped with Wi-Fi, gymnasium, indoor and outdoor games, medical facility, and 24x7 power backup. Students are advised to apply for hostel accommodation early as seats are limited.
