PU B.Sc FAQs
Ques. Is B.Sc Chemistry offered as a standalone subject at Poornima University, or is it only available as part of the PCM combination?
Ans. At Poornima University, Chemistry is offered as part of the B.Sc (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) programme, commonly known as B.Sc PCM. There is no standalone B.Sc Chemistry (Honours) programme. Students who wish to specialise in Chemistry must enrol in the PCM combination, which gives them a strong interdisciplinary foundation across all three core science subjects. This is a common structure in most private universities in Rajasthan, and the PCM combination is widely accepted for further studies in M.Sc Chemistry, M.Sc Physics, or Mathematics-related postgraduate programmes.
Ques. What is the actual total cost of studying B.Sc PCM at Poornima University for 3 years, including all charges?
Ans. The annual programme fee is Rs. 50,000, which includes tuition, development, and administrative charges. Over 3 years, this amounts to Rs. 1,50,000. Additionally, a one-time non-refundable registration fee of Rs. 1,500 is charged at the time of admission, and Rs. 2,500 is payable as Alumni and Convocation Fee in the final year. So the total course fee comes to approximately Rs. 1,54,000 for the full 3-year programme. If you opt for hostel accommodation, add Rs. 1,05,000 to Rs. 1,40,000 per year depending on the room type (non-AC or AC), which includes meals, laundry, and Wi-Fi.
Ques. Does Poornima University accept CUET-UG scores for B.Sc PCM admission, or is it purely merit-based?
Ans. Poornima University primarily admits students to the B.Sc (PCM) programme on the basis of 10+2 merit (aggregate marks in the best five subjects). However, the university is also listed as a CUET-participating institution, and CUET-UG scores may be considered for admission and scholarship purposes. Students who have appeared for CUET-UG 2026 can submit their scores during the counselling process. That said, even without CUET, students with good 10+2 marks can directly apply and secure admission through the merit-based counselling rounds.
Ques. What career options are available after completing B.Sc PCM from Poornima University?
Ans. After completing B.Sc (PCM) from Poornima University, students can pursue a wide range of career paths. The most common route is to go for M.Sc in Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics from a reputed university, followed by research or teaching careers. Students can also appear for competitive exams like CSIR-NET, GATE, or state-level SET exams to qualify for research fellowships or assistant professor positions. Other career options include roles as Chemical Analyst, Lab Technician, Quality Control Officer in pharmaceutical or chemical industries, Data Analyst (with a mathematics background), or even preparation for civil services. The university also offers M.Sc programmes, so students can continue their postgraduate studies at Poornima itself.
Ques. How does the scholarship system work at Poornima University for B.Sc PCM, and can I get a scholarship in the second year if I missed it in the first year?
Ans. The Shanti Education Society (SES) Scholarship at Poornima University is awarded based on 10+2 aggregate marks and the counselling round in which you take admission. Higher scholarship slabs are available in Counselling Round 1 compared to Rounds 2 and 3. Importantly, if you are not eligible for a scholarship in the first year (either due to marks or late admission), you will not be eligible for the SES Scholarship in subsequent years either. Scholarship continuation in the second and third years is subject to no backlogs in the previous academic year. Only the Poornima University President's Scholarship (for specific categories like defence personnel, martyrs' wards, etc.) is applicable for all years regardless of CGPA.
Ques. Is the 75% attendance requirement strictly enforced for B.Sc PCM students at Poornima University?
Ans. Yes, Poornima University enforces a mandatory 75% attendance requirement for all programmes, including B.Sc PCM. Students who fail to meet this requirement may be detained from appearing in semester examinations. This is a common concern raised by students in reviews and forums. Students are advised to plan their attendance carefully, especially during internships, events, or personal commitments. The university does have a process for medical or other genuine exemptions, but these are handled on a case-by-case basis by the respective department. Regular attendance is also important for scholarship continuation, as any disciplinary action can lead to immediate discontinuation of the scholarship.
