MPBOU CRD FAQs
Ques. What is the Certificate in Rural Development (CRD) programme about and who should pursue it?
Ans. The CRD programme is a short-term certificate course that provides foundational knowledge about rural development in India. It covers topics such as rural economy, government rural development schemes (like MGNREGA, PMGSY, PMAY-G), rural planning, women and child development, and community participation. It is ideal for students from rural backgrounds, social workers, NGO employees, Panchayat members, government employees in rural departments, and anyone interested in understanding rural development policies and practices. The programme is not a professional degree but serves as a useful credential for those working in the development sector.
Ques. Is the CRD certificate from MPBOU recognized? Can it help in getting a government job?
Ans. The CRD certificate from MPBOU is a recognized qualification from a UGC-recognized state open university. However, it is a certificate-level programme and is not equivalent to a degree or diploma for the purpose of most government job eligibility criteria. It can be useful as an additional qualification for roles in NGOs, rural development projects, Panchayati Raj institutions, and social work organizations. For government jobs, candidates typically need a degree-level qualification. The CRD can complement a graduate degree in social work, public administration, or rural management.
Ques. Can I pursue the CRD programme while working or studying another course simultaneously?
Ans. Yes, since the CRD is offered through ODL mode, there are no mandatory daily classes. You receive study materials at home and can study at your own pace. The programme is designed for working professionals and students who cannot attend regular classes. You can pursue it alongside another course or while working, as long as you submit assignments and appear for the term-end examination as per the schedule. However, check with MPBOU if there are any restrictions on pursuing two programmes simultaneously.
Ques. What is the difference between the CRD programme at MPBOU and similar programmes at IGNOU?
Ans. Both MPBOU and IGNOU offer Certificate in Rural Development programmes through distance mode. IGNOU's CRD programme is nationally recognized and has a more structured curriculum with multiple courses (MRD-101, MRD-102, MRD-103). MPBOU's CRD is a state-level programme with a focus on Madhya Pradesh's rural development context. The fee at MPBOU (Rs. 3,500) is comparable to IGNOU's CRD. For students in Madhya Pradesh, MPBOU's CRD may be more accessible due to local study centres and Hindi medium availability. Both are valid certificates from recognized open universities.
Ques. How are the term-end examinations conducted and what is the passing criteria?
Ans. MPBOU conducts term-end examinations for the CRD programme at designated examination centres across Madhya Pradesh. The examination schedule is announced by the university on its official website (mpbou.edu.in) and through the MPOnline portal. Students must submit assignments as per the schedule before appearing in the examination. The passing criteria typically require a minimum of 40% marks in the term-end examination and satisfactory performance in assignments. Students who fail can reappear in subsequent examinations within the maximum programme duration of 2 years.
Ques. What documents are required for admission to the CRD programme?
Ans. For online admission through the MPOnline portal, you need to upload: 10+2 (Higher Secondary) marksheet and certificate, a recent passport-size photograph, identity proof (Aadhaar card/voter ID/passport), and caste/category certificate (if applicable for scholarship purposes). Ensure all documents are clear and in the prescribed format (JPEG/PDF). After successful admission, the university will send an admission confirmation and study materials to your registered address. Keep a copy of the fee payment receipt for future reference.
