MPBOU BA (Hons.) Hindi FAQs
Ques. I have completed my BA (General) with Hindi as a subject. Am I eligible for BA (Hons.) Hindi at MPBOU, and do I need to appear for any entrance exam?
Ans. Yes, you are eligible for the BA (Hons.) Hindi programme at MPBOU if you have completed a 3-year BA degree from a recognised university with Hindi as one of the subjects. There is no entrance examination for this programme. Admission is entirely merit-based, meaning it depends on the marks you obtained in your graduation. You simply need to apply online through the MPOnline portal (mpbou.mponline.gov.in), pay the registration fee of Rs. 150, and submit the required documents. The process is straightforward and can be completed entirely online.
Ques. What is the difference between the regular BA (3 years) and the BA (Hons.) Hindi (1 year) at MPBOU? Why should I opt for the Honours programme?
Ans. The regular BA at MPBOU is a 3-year programme open to students after 10+2, covering multiple subjects at a general level. The BA (Hons.) Hindi is a 1-year add-on Honours programme specifically for graduates who have already completed a BA with Hindi. Under the NEP 2020 framework, completing the Honours year gives you a higher academic credential (BA Hons.) compared to a plain BA degree. This can be beneficial for pursuing postgraduate studies (MA Hindi), applying for government jobs that require an Honours degree, or for academic and teaching careers. The total duration under NEP becomes 4 years (3 years BA + 1 year Hons.), and the fee for the Honours year is just Rs. 2,500.
Ques. How are classes conducted in this distance programme? Do I need to visit the university or study centre regularly?
Ans. Since MPBOU is an open university, the BA (Hons.) Hindi programme is conducted entirely through the ODL (Open and Distance Learning) mode. You do not need to attend regular classes. The university provides Self-Learning Material (SLM) in printed form, which is dispatched to your registered address or made available at your allotted study centre. Periodic contact sessions (Personal Contact Programmes / PCPs) may be organised at the study centre for doubt-clearing, but attendance is generally not compulsory. Examinations are conducted at designated exam centres, and you will need to appear in person for the annual examinations.
Ques. Is the BA (Hons.) Hindi degree from MPBOU recognised for government jobs and higher studies?
Ans. Yes, the BA (Hons.) Hindi degree from MPBOU is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Distance Education Bureau (DEB). MPBOU is a state open university established by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, and its degrees are valid for government employment, competitive examinations, and admission to postgraduate programmes at other universities. However, students are advised to verify specific job notifications, as some central government posts may have specific requirements regarding the mode of study.
Ques. Can I apply for the BA (Hons.) Hindi programme if I completed my graduation from a university outside Madhya Pradesh?
Ans. Yes, MPBOU does not restrict admissions to students from Madhya Pradesh only. If you have completed your BA with Hindi from any recognised university in India, you are eligible to apply for the BA (Hons.) Hindi programme at MPBOU. However, you will need to provide your graduation marksheets and degree certificate as part of the application. Students from outside MP can also be allotted a study centre in their preferred region within Madhya Pradesh, or they may need to coordinate with the university for examination centre allocation.
Ques. What subjects are covered in the BA (Hons.) Hindi programme at MPBOU, and is there any practical component?
Ans. The BA (Hons.) Hindi programme at MPBOU covers advanced topics in Hindi literature and language, including Hindi Kavya (Poetry), Hindi Gadya (Prose), Karyaliyin Hindi aur Bhasha Computing (Official Hindi and Language Computing), and Anuvad Vigyan (Translation Science). These are offered as Core and Major courses under the NEP framework. Additionally, students choose Generic Elective and Vocational courses from a list that includes subjects like Computer Fundamentals, Digital Marketing, and Web Designing. The programme is primarily theory-based, though some vocational courses may have a practical component. The SLM (study material) for all subjects is available for download on the official MPBOU website.
