GITAM Bengaluru BA FAQs
Ques. Which BA majors are offered at GITAM Bengaluru, and can I change my major after admission?
Ans. GITAM Bengaluru offers three BA majors: Economics, Political Science, and Psychology. The major is typically finalised at the time of admission. Requests to change the major after joining are subject to GITAM’s internal policy and seat availability in the target major. Students should confirm the change request procedure with the GITAM School of Liberal Arts before admission.
Ques. Is CUET-UG required for BA admission at GITAM Bengaluru, or is GAT alone sufficient?
Ans. Both CUET-UG and GAT are accepted for BA admission at GITAM Bengaluru; neither is compulsory. Candidates who have appeared in CUET-UG 2026 (held May 11 to May 31, 2026) may apply using their CUET-UG score. Candidates who did not appear in CUET-UG may register for and use GAT 2026, to be held on June 14, 2026. GAT or CUET-UG score also determines merit scholarship eligibility.
Ques. Can GITAM Bengaluru BA graduates apply for MA programmes at central universities like JNU or Delhi University?
Ans. Yes. GITAM is a UGC-recognised Deemed University. A BA degree from GITAM Bengaluru qualifies graduates for MA admission at central universities, including JNU and Delhi University, subject to those universities’ eligibility requirements such as minimum percentage or entrance test scores. Students targeting postgraduate admission at central universities should maintain strong academic performance throughout the BA programme.
Ques. Are there placement or internship opportunities for BA students at GITAM Bengaluru?
Ans. GITAM Bengaluru’s Career Development Centre provides internship facilitation and soft-skills training for all UG students, including BA. However, corporate campus placement drives at GITAM Bengaluru are primarily oriented toward B.Tech and BBA students. BA students typically secure internships and entry-level roles through the CDC’s tie-ups, alumni network, and individual applications in journalism, NGOs, banking, government offices, and social sector organisations.
Ques. What is the minimum percentage required for BA at GITAM Bengaluru, and is it different from BBA?
Ans. BA at GITAM Bengaluru requires a minimum aggregate of 50 percent in 10+2, which is lower than the 60 percent required for BBA at the same campus. Both programmes accept students from Science, Commerce, and Arts streams. This lower threshold makes the BA programme accessible to a broader range of candidates, particularly those from Arts and Commerce backgrounds with scores between 50 and 60 percent.
Ques. Is GITAM Bengaluru BA conducted under the National Education Policy framework?
Ans. GITAM University has adopted NEP 2020 guidelines, and undergraduate programmes including the BA are structured to align with the four-year UG framework and multidisciplinary learning objectives. Students may choose major and minor subject combinations and exit at appropriate stages with certificates or diplomas as per NEP provisions. Confirm the specific NEP implementation details and curriculum structure for the 2026-27 batch at gitam.edu before enrolment.
