Sumandeep Vidyapeeth offers a full-time and part-time Ph.D. program in various specializations in the field of Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, and Management. The duration of the Ph.D. (full-time) is 3-6 years and for the Ph.D. (part-time) for a minimum duration of 3 years. The minimum requirement to apply for the Ph.D. program offered at Sumandeep Vidyapeeth (PU) is a Postgraduate degree in the relevant subject.

Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Ph.D Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who seek admission to the full-time or part-time Ph.D. program offered at Sumandeep Vidyapeeth shall fulfill the following eligibility:

• For Admission to Ph.D. (Medicine): Must have scored a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in MD/MS, DM/MCh/PG Diploma/MSc (Medical) degree from MCI recognized college/institution.
• For Admission to Ph.D. (Dental): Must have scored a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in MDS or equivalent Master's degree from DCI recognized college/institution.
• For Admission to Ph.D. (Pharmacy): Must have scored a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in Pharmacy (M Pharm) from a college/institution recognized by PCI/IAP/INC/AICTE/UGC.
• For Admission to Ph.D. (Physiotherapy): Must have scored a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in Physiotherapy (MPT) from a college/institution recognized by PCI/IAP/INC/AICTE/UGC.
• For Admission to Ph.D. (Nursing): Must have scored a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in Nursing (MSc) and PG degree in Management from a college/institution recognized by PCI/IAP/INC/AICTE/UGC.
• For Admission to Ph.D. (Management): Must have scored a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in Management from a college/institution recognized by PCI/IAP/INC/AICTE/UGC.
• A relaxation of 5% in the qualifying examination will be given to the candidates belonging from SC/ST/OBC and other categories.
• For Admission to Ph.D. (part-time) programs: Candidate shall be an employee of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University.
• Must have qualified for AIEEE.

Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Ph.D Admission Criteria

The selection of candidates for admissions to the Ph.D. program of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth is based on the entrance exam conducted by the institution itself followed by an interview process.

• Eligible candidates shall submit a comprehensive Research Proposal along with the Ph.D. application form.
• Sumandeep Vidyapeeth will release a merit list based on the candidate’s performance in entrance exam.
• UGC-NET/JRF-Fellowship/ UGC-CSIR NET/ SLET/ GATE/ teacher fellowship holders will be exempted from appearing for entrance exam.
• Shortlisted candidates will be called for the personal interview and viva-voce round.
• The final selection of candidates will be based on the performance of the candidates in entrance exam, Interview, and Viva-voce.
• The varsity will display the final merit list on the notice board.

Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Ph.D Course Details

Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Ph.D Course Duration

• The full-time Ph.D. program provided at the Sumandeep Vidyapeeth shall be of a minimum duration of 3 years divided into 6 semesters. The maximum duration of the course is 6 years divided into 12 semesters.
• The part-time Ph.D. program at Sumandeep Vidyapeeth shall be of a minimum duration of 4 years divided into 8 semesters and the maximum duration is 6 years.
• For M.Sc (Medicine) Degree Holder, the minimum duration for the Ph.D. (full-time) course is 4 years while the maximum is 6 years. While the minimum duration for the ‘In-Service Candidates’ is 5 years and the maximum duration is 7 years.
• A relaxation of 2 years will be given in the maximum duration to the women candidates or persons with disability.

Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Ph.D Prescribed Course Work

• Ph.D. students have to mandatory undergo a course work of 1st Semester that includes theory papers.
• Both part-time and full-time Ph.D. students shall have a minimum of 75% attendance.
• Ph.D. program will only be initiated after successful completion of coursework.

Seminar Presentation: After the successful completion of course work, a Ph.D. student is required to conduct a Seminar Presentation.

Thesis Submission: After the successful completion of pre-thesis examinations, a candidate shall submit their thesis within the stipulated time.

• In the Thesis submission, Ph.D. students shall submit the research paper from their research findings of the respective Ph.D. specialization.
• The paper presentations in (International/ National) conferences or seminars.
• The thesis will be examined by the internal and external examiners. They hold the power to reject or accept the thesis for the award of the Ph.D. degree.

Public Viva-Voce Examination: Ph.D. students will only be allowed to sit for a public viva-voce examination if all the examiners have accepted the candidate’s thesis submission.

• The Viva-Voce examination should primarily be designed to test the understanding of the candidate on the subject matter of the thesis, including the methodology employed.

Degree Award: Students will be awarded a doctoral degree after the successful completion of coursework, Proposal Seminar, Thesis Submission, and Viva-Voce examinations.

Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Ph.D: Research Assistantship

Sumandeep Vidyapeeth provides financial assistantship to full-time and Part-time Ph.D. scholars in their respective fields and to those who fulfill the eligibility criteria. Various faculty, as well as teachers’ dissertation, have been published in various books and magazines internationally as well as nationally.

• Various Government and non-government organizations offer funds to the research scholars for the research assistantship.
•  However, Ph.D. students shall have to give a minimum number of hours to avail themselves of financial assistance every month.
