RU Diploma IT FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between Diploma in IT and Diploma in Computer Engineering at Rai University?
Ans. Both are 3-year polytechnic programmes after Class 10, but they differ in focus. Diploma in Information Technology emphasises software, networking, database management, web technologies, and data-oriented electives like Machine Learning and Data Analysis. Diploma in Computer Engineering is more hardware and systems-oriented, covering computer architecture, microprocessors, and embedded systems alongside software topics. For students interested in software development, data, and IT services careers, Diploma in IT is the more relevant choice. Both programmes allow lateral entry into B.Tech or B.Sc. IT in the 3rd semester.
Ques. Can I get direct admission to Rai University for Diploma IT, or is ACPDC counselling mandatory?
Ans. Diploma admissions in Gujarat are primarily regulated by ACPDC Gujarat, and most seats are filled through the centralised counselling process. However, Rai University, being a private university, may also offer direct admissions for seats not filled through ACPDC or under the management quota. Students are advised to first register on the ACPDC portal (gujdiploma.admissions.nic.in) from 8th May 2026 and simultaneously apply directly at raiuniversity.edu to keep both options open. Contact the admissions office at director.admission@raiuniversity.edu for clarity on direct admission availability.
Ques. After completing Diploma in IT from Rai University, can I directly join B.Tech IT in the 2nd year?
Ans. Yes. Students who complete a 3-year Diploma in IT (or related branch) are eligible for lateral entry (D2D - Diploma to Degree) admission into the 3rd semester (2nd year) of B.Tech IT at Rai University and other Gujarat engineering colleges. This is regulated by ACPDC Gujarat's D2D admission process. The minimum eligibility is typically a Diploma with 45% marks. This pathway allows diploma holders to complete B.Tech in 3 additional years instead of 4, saving one year of study time and fees.
Ques. What kind of jobs can I get after completing Diploma in IT from Rai University?
Ans. Diploma in IT graduates can find entry-level employment as junior software developers, IT support technicians, network administrators, data entry operators, web designers, and computer hardware technicians. In Gujarat, there is strong demand for diploma-level IT professionals in manufacturing companies, IT service firms, BPOs, and government departments. Salaries for fresh diploma holders typically range from Rs. 1.5 lakh to Rs. 3 lakh per annum depending on the role and employer. Many students also use the diploma as a stepping stone to pursue B.Tech IT through lateral entry for better career prospects.
Ques. Is the Diploma in IT from Rai University recognised by the Government of Gujarat and AICTE?
Ans. Rai University is a UGC-recognised private university, and its Diploma programmes are regulated by the Board of Technical Education, Gujarat (BTEGS) and are approved by AICTE. Admissions are conducted through ACPDC Gujarat, which is the official government body for diploma admissions in Gujarat. The diploma is therefore recognised for government job applications, further studies (D2D lateral entry), and employment purposes within India. Students should verify specific recognition requirements for any particular job or further study application.
